Re: ray allen is a god

Cebby, I don't know where you come up with this idea that a very good player must take his team to the playoffs more than once in a span of six years, regardless of who is teammates are/were. I guess I have to respect your opinion, but I disagree completely.

If I were the best player in the NBA and my team lost 30 games by 1 point you would still make the same argument because you're looking at win and loss totals. If I were the best player in the NBA and my team won every game by 1 point, you would make the same argument because you're looking at win and loss totals. Obviously this will never happen with a good/great team, but it's just not a very compelling argument IMO.

A very good player doesn't have to, but a "God" or "First ballot Hall of Famer" does. That's what being argued here.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I don't understand what you are talking about.

In the 2001-2002 season, Ray Allen's team with ET, Robinson, Tim Thomas, and Redd missed the playoffs behind TMac, AI, and VC's less talented teams and BD's Hornets.

In the 2004, 2006, and 2007 seasons, they finished behind 31 flavors of mediocrity.

Now, has he been an All Star caliber player? Sure. But in terms of greatness, he isn't close to these other guys. The Vince Carter comparison is probably the best with regards to their career accomplishments.

Don't forget about the scraps J.Kidd carried to the Finals twice. Just had to throw that out there. :-))

At their pinnacles VC, TMac and AI were all better than Ray's peak. AI and McGrady were arguably the best player in the entire league during a few given seasons.

I would consider Ray a phenominal #2/borderline #1 ideally on a team. There are plenty of guys in the HOF who weren't franchise players and Ray will be one of them.

Bball reference has Ray at a .908 for HOF probability. The other active players ahead of him... (Vince is just below him thanks to Allen's chip last year)

Why must people hate so much? lol Just say it, Allen has a Godly jump shot, and anyone who was going for boston when he hit those crazy fading super jump shots would having been chanting his name.

Why argue? Sure Allen isn't Lebron or Kobe, we know that. But now that he has his place on a good team he is stepping up on the biggest stage, in clutch situations and being a Godly Shooter!

Anyone mediocre player can hit a 3 pointer. But what makes Allen a God is that he can do it in the clutch with half a team chasing him (cough cough Jordanesc)
He is definatley not the full package, but as a shooter he is a God

as a shooter. he is a god. and arguably the best shooter the nba has ever seen. definately one of the most clutch of his generation.
and definately deserving a HOF spot.
its not only his shooting ability. its that he is a consumate proffesional.
he is as good a sporting role model you will ever find.
thats what raises ray allen to HOF level...his talent is exceptional. but he is even more exceptional a person.

I went to UCONN at the same time Ray Allen was there, and I have to say that I am stunned that he has had the career he has had.

He's my favorite player to ever come out of UCONN, and I knew he had would have a good NBA career.

He was a slasher/scorer in college and I pictured him having a 2 to 4 time all star, 20 PPG, Richard Jefferson/Corey Maggette/Jason Richardson type of career.

I never dreamed he'd become a no doubt hall of famer, and one of the greatest jump shooters of all time.
