I also could never get into the XFL. The quality of play just wasn't good. I'd rather watch a more exciting game like the Arena league than the XFL. Just my tastes in football. I was hoping the XFL would keep me interested during the NFL and college football's offseason, but it just didn't, and I don't miss it.

Re: SlamBall
If Arena Football didnt have a partnership with ESPN, do you think theyd slam it like the XFL? No.
Why shouldnt they? Theyre taking our NFL we know and love, bending the rules, it has inferior talent. Werent those the main gripes about the XFL???
The media didnt give it a chance. They single handedly killed it. It wasnt the leagues fault. Sure it had some problems, but because of all the negativity surrounding it it got run down. It got negative opinions because Vince McMahon ran it. If it was someone else, they wouldve praised it.
I always said for people to give it a chance, it was actually pretty damn entertaining. They didnt.
If they gave it ONE more year they couldve ironed out all the kinks.
The talent was inferior, but in my opinion, thats better. Since the salaries are so low, 50k, (compared to the ridiculous contracts in mainstream leagues), you had people playing for the love of the game and there were some pretty damn good games during the season. I would bet 85% of all the people slamming it watched 1 game (the opener) then stopped.

Re: SlamBall
the problem with the XFL is that it constantly compared itself to and bashed the NFL, always talking about how it was better or tougher, now I'm not trying to bash matrix, I'm just stating my opinion
was the XFL better than the NFL? No.
did it have enough time, did it get a real fair chance? No.
Vince hyped it up too much, in the sense that, it should have been something to entertain people, not something to pull them away from the NFL and I think somewhere along the line whether it was promotion or media, that's what message was being sentComment

Re: SlamBall
I don't care what ESPN thought of it, I didn't like it, and that had nothing to do with ESPN. I tried to watch it for the first 3-4 weeks, and I just didn't find it entertaining. I had no loyalty to any team, so there was no rooting interest, making the need for entertainment higher. I prefer the Arena League because it is fun to watch, in my opinion.
I did like the lower salaries, and the bonus for winning the Big Game. Gave them a little more incentive to play hard every play. Other than that, it was a big letdown for me, and apparently, to a lot of other fans.Comment

It was supposed to be rougher and tougher, but it was the NFL with players that weren't as good. The best part was the "coin toss" until that guy broke himself.University of Evansville Graduate

Re: SlamBall
Ok, I respect your opinion, cuz you backed it up with a thought.
There were some great things about the XFL though. The scramble was great. The no extra point was REALLY great. And, call me crazy, I loved the personal names on the jerseys.
Its all in the past....whatever.Comment
