SPECIFIC Skills of Individual NBA Players That You Feel Are Overrated?

Stuckey's athleticism; yea he is strong for the point position but coming out of Eastern Washington they talked like this dude has a wizard of an athlete. I don't see it today, maybe something happened. Who knows?

    Chris Paul's defense

Throw some other ones out there

    This one is easy.

Kobe Bryant's Defense I feel He is the Most Overrated Defender in the history of the game. The way he keeps getting All Defensive Teams is baffles me. Especially when he gets it over more deserving players, Like D Wade this year and Bell a Few years back.

Howard's On Ball Defense is riduclously overrated especially with him winning the DPOY. He's a great Help side defender but that's it.

I guess I should have been clear, because that's what I meant. Don't get me wrong, it's alright, but certainly not as good as people make him out to be. He's way too inconsistent.

This is going to end badly aka everyone piling up on their least favorite player.

                Kash got it started early.

Andrew Bynum's defense. I don't like the word overrated. I prefer the term over hyped.

Tracy MacGrady has been overrated for some time now. I know he has been injured this year but it seemed like he hasnt been the same since he was in Orlando. He seems more like a guy who scores a lot because he takes a lot of shots.

I also think Carmelo Anthony is overrated as a scorer. Im not saying he isnt good because he is a good scorer. But I say this because he forces too much and as a result he becomes a volume scorer also. He can make shots that a lot of guys cant make though but forcing things the way he does wastes possessions. Sometimes watching him is reminiscent of the old NBA where the isolationn stuff was prevalent. If he would not try to force his offense the way he does, I think he would still score as much, if not more. If teams know he wont force it, it could open things up for him since they will have to respect other options.

Denver's entire offensive scheme is all iso's...

This year though, the difference with Melo is that he doesn't hold on to the ball for like 10 seconds when he's in an iso...He's a more willing passer this season...

And to the poster who said Duncan's post game...Explain.

                          Rondo's passing
with a team full of shooting threats... ready to shoot if they get a glipse of the rim... half of his assists wouldn't be assists if Ray, Pierce & House didn't shoot so quickly

Wow. Some truth in this thread. I like it.

With the exception of one poster (maybe he/she has eyesight issues?) I agree with all players listed.

Kobe is definitely overrated defensively as well as Howard. It seems like season awards are just feed for the hype machine that is the NBA. It's pretty easy for anyone who knows the game to see that the NBA uses awards as a road to ratings. The hyped players win awards they should not and the casual/ignorant fan eats it up.

Bynum and Oden are just completely overrated. Bynum more so.. I remember last year and early this season the thought was that Bynum made the Lakers a championship team. His fouls per game are about the same as his points and rebounds per game in the playoffs.

Be that as it may, I was more referring to the two on two game that overtook the league, where, as you say, they control the ball for 10 seconds. And he still falls back into that a lot even though he passes it more.
