Re: Tracy McGrady would be a perfect fit in...

You're kind of missing the point, CV. This isn't a "where would Mac most likely go?" discussion. It's strictly about what team would be made into a championship contender if Mac became their starting SG/SF.

Just looking at the ideal fit for his skillset, even if his skills are diminished somewhat by injuries. A couple of guys have taken the "Tmac can go anywhere" approach, but I don't think that's true. There are certain places where his skills solve problems, and other places where he just brings more of what a certain team already has.

Worst case he gets to choose a team in the summer of 2010 sweepstakes
If he's healthy though I dont see why the Rockets couldnt use him, but he should never be their #1a option though.

In that case Born...I think the Spurs are a long, long way away from a ring and adding Tracy wouldn't change that.

They got beaten by a Mavs team that got beaten up pretty badly by Denver. Their time is over IMO.

I think Mac and Iverson are two guys who we still see as guys who could maybe put a team over the top...but we are thinking of both guys 3 or 4 years ago.

Mac now is pretty much shot in terms of his body + you've got to doubt how expolosive he'll be post operation at his age.

Guards tend to go downill very fast once they hit a certain age + have had a series of injuries.

This thred reminds of me of Penny Hardaway ten years back to be honest...

Remember Phoenix thinking Penny would 'put them over the top' and the whole "back court 2000" thing with J Kidd.

Penny was already on a rapid path downhill...a bit like T-Mac.

Next season will be Mac's 12th in the league I think...so, even when he's a FA, you are talking about his 13th-15th type seasons if he gets a 3 year deal somehwere.

I can't see Mac being a productive 13th year type guy a la Ray Allen or someone whose body has held up.

I do think he could be a hell of a good sixth man for the Rox next season.

          A la Manu...instant offense.

          25 mins a night...perfect.

I do think he'd be man enough to accept the role also...unlike Iverson.

          Yao
          Scola
          Shane
          Ron
          Brooks

Mac off the bench...instant offense + he can cover 3 positions.

I'd like to see it happen

If Tracy McGrady plays healthy, he will not be a role player... he will instantly become the team's best or second best player. The guy plays on one leg for one season and everyone is acting like he's 34 year old Jerry Stackhouse/Michael Finley all of the sudden.

With that said, I would love him in Orlando to replace (and add more than) Hedo. His ability to run up to 4 positions would be perfect as well as finally playing on a good Orlando team with a variety of players and a ton of shooters.

                    totally unbelievable statement!!!

NEWAYZ - i can see Tmac in San Antone as aan A.I. experiment and offensive punch... i can also c him back in Orlando but NOT FOR THE REASON STATED IN THE QUOTE... btw Hedo is likely to be leaving Orlando so u won't have to deal with him much longer & im sure u'll miss him then.

i think his tenure here is done BUT if, TMAC was willing & the team decided to keep him... i think this would work famously! That would be THE perfect role for his talents on this team... but where would that leave Wafer if he doesn't demand a lot of money?

Are you really worried about what's going to happen to Wafer?

Especially if you have Mac coming off the bench for you?

lol matter of fact, where is wafer at in these playoffs?

thats where you make your money right there.

Im not sure if they'll keep Mac on the bench but he should definitely start there when he comes back. Like I said 6th are almost like a super player in reserve because of what they bring.

Agree on the first part. T-Mac lighting up other team's second units and getting bench players easy shots would be great! Especially since Mac and Yao's chemistry isn't always there.

As for the second part, I don't think we can even bank on Wafer re-upping next year anyway. I haven't read anything one way or another, but I'm sure he's probably going to jet.
