You just had to post that here didn't you?

Over/Under this thread makes it at least 10 pages?

Are these threads even allowed in here anymore?

I hate to be the desperado here out riding fences, but in one respect I'm a straight James man. But in another, I want Kobe.

Re: The State of the Great Debate: Kobe vs. LeBron 2009 (TrueHoop)

Royce Young, Daily Thunder: The thing I see in Kobe is a straight assassin. He's the Travis Bickle of basketball. He's there to finish you, even if your kid is in the other room watching. I don't get that from LeBron. LeBron is a slow cooker -- a guy that needs 48 minutes to beat you. He's absolutely unguardable one-on-one, he can rebound, he can create for teammates and he can man up. But does he have that sense of the moment like Kobe does? Can he just walk on the court and say "I got this" to his teammates. I'm not sure he's there yet.
...then what is someone who takes 7 games to beat you...or actually, maybe beat you?

Debate? it's only a debate if it's debateable, Which it isn't

Yes Kobe is obviously the more polished player, but he isn't better. He isn't as efficient. He doesn't do as great a job at getting his teammates involved. Based on his career as a whole, he isn't a better leader. LeBron is the better player right now and that's without the polish. Does anyone remember what Bron took to the Finals a couple of years ago instead of whining about it in a parking lot on youtube? He was even less polished then.

Of course, James will have to continue to hone his game. Raw athleticism will only get you so far before you start to break down with age. He will need to add the things that Kobe has to his game. I agree with the one guy who said if he had Kobe's footwork, as impossible as it is to guard him now, you'd really have a problem on your hands.

It's a pointless argument that was debated much better on true hoop then it will ever be on OS.

Ya see the main problem with everyone that is on Kobe's side of the debate here is taking into account his whole body of work so far. And if thats the question then of course Kobe wins. BUT THATS NOT THE QUESTION.

The question is RIGHT NOW, who is a better player. And the answer is that its not even close. And i would have said this before the rockets series that just confirmed this for me.

Kobe is 50 times better than anyone else when it comes to the midrange jumpshot and i believe that he may be the greatest of all time off the dribble in this category, even better than Jordan. And thats why ppl become enamoured with Kobe's game. But he overuses his midrange game in isolation so much that that ends up being his biggest downfall at the same time!!!!!! Shaq's dominance enabled him to be able to do this without getting burned.
But without such a physically dominant post presence inside Kobe's teammates end up having floor seats to the Kobe Bryant show 82 times a year plus the playoffs.

Now thats good enough to beat a majority of the teams in this league, but when Kobe's shot attempts skyrocket to 30+ a game i dont care if he shoots 50% because it causes his teammates to lose intensity both offensively and defensively.

And it needs to be said that lebrons court vision and passing ability aren't even in the same realm as kobe. He's so much better in this area its not even funny. And thats what everyone is missing in this equation.

Lebron combines characteristics of michael jordan, magic johnson, and karl malone all in one player. And we are just now seeing the beginning of his dominance on this league. He hasnt even touched the surface of his potential and he's already better than kobe.

In the next few years lebron's footwork will rival that of kobe's, his jumpshot will eventually be above average rather than a weakness, his post game will mirror that of karl malone, and he will still be one of the fastest players in the league. Its gonna get to the point where there won't be a second where he's not having some kind of quick trap thrown at him and then backing off on every position from all over the floor despite his passing ability!!!

I wasn't too sure at first, but boy am I believer now. King James is a beast. He is gonna be unstopable in a few more years

I could make a better argument that TrueHoop is a waste with unqualified experts, AKA bloggers. Of course what else would expect from the network that brought us Bill Simmons?
