Long post ahead, read it if you feel you want to realize how great these boards are...
I've been posting on the IGN Boards for a very long time. The Basketball Boards there are... I don't know, a rollercoaster ride. When the Nets made it to the playoffs last year, I had to block the initial bunch of doubters. As they beat their first round opponents, second round, and eventually made it into the finals, I was dealing with adversaries on the board that not only made my mind-set stronger about my team, but it gave me the confidence to say what's on my mind while keeping it within limits.
Then came the ECF. Chants of wife-beater, outbursts of people calling him a wife-beater on the boards, and me having to defend my team on a 1:10 ratio of people bashing him. Then people actually having the mind to criticize them and say they suck after they got swept. Hmmm... a team who never made it to the finals, vs. former two-time winning NBA Champs in back to back years... I could have never guessed who would have won
Anyways, this talk about Kidd and his past been pretty calm during most of regular season. All of a sudden, the playoffs start and now we play Boston. All of a sudden, all of the morons on the boards come out, taking cheap shots at Kidd, his wife, and most despicable of all, his son. All of a sudden, Bob Ryan's comments stir up mass hatred on the boards... towards who? Towards JOUMANA. People trying to justify Ryan's comments and actually go on to say that it isn't a big deal and how Joumana is an attention whore anyways.
I think the final thread was drawn at this point, where morons on those boards simply can't get it through their thick heads that Kidd's past and what he's gone through is no joking matter. I got increasingly fed up and posted this long post which nobody seemed to reply to, it seemed to do its job to shut people up about the issue.
"What woman doesn't want attention? What woman doesn't like pampering? She does what she likes to do, you guys have some obsessive block against it. It doesn't concern anyone but the Kidd family.
Some of you just refuse to get over it for the sake of not letting go. Yes it was horrible, yes it was sad, but he took steps to better his life. He went through an extensive anger management program. Joumana and Kidd had problems before, and both Kidd and Joumana admitted it openly to the public. He admitted his problems to the public. She shared his issues with the public.
You ask why Kidd brings his son to games? At 9 at night? Because he loves it. TJ loves being with his father. Joumana says it numerous times - she doesn't want him to go at times but the bond between TJ and Kidd is immensely strong. If you guys don't understand that, perhaps you'd understand it when you become fathers.
The only people who refuse to believe that things have gotten better are people who don't care. They have the mentality in their heads that people can't change, period. Some of you just hold the grudge against him for the sake of it, either because you don't like the Nets, or you're still stuck to a point in time where you think Kidd still hits his wife. Yes I don't know either, but do you see any public outrage or announcements by Joumana or Kidd? If Kidd laid a finger on her, she wouldn't have hesitated to call the police, and it would have become a big issue again. That's what she did the FIRST TIME if you people didn't know - things were getting tough and she dialed 911. Kidd apologized, he underwent anger management and they are working things out.
But no, you people refuse to believe it for the sake of not WANTING to believe it. "Once a wife beater, always a wife beater". Right? Perhaps you people should look at what humans are CAPABLE of, instead of what their past sins have been. Forgiveness, change, and improvement. Rather than dwelling on one period for a near-infinite amount of time.
That's all i'm gonna say about this anymore. If it comes up again, i'll literally keep copying and pasting it, like it or not. I covered everything I needed to say.

I don't like to rant, but i'm getting sick and tired of defending my favorite players/team against a bunch of dumb morons who can't understand that life is about more than dwelling on the past. The people there do it just for the hell of it, it's the ONLY THING they can say to try and bring Kidd's status to a lower level. Yes it was horrible, yes it was wrong, but people change. They have the ability to change, and Kidd has certainly done that. Otherwise we would have seen more police complaints and even a divorce by now.
Nevertheless, I'm very happy about how most of the guys here post. You guys don't bash Kidd and his past, nor do you try and defend something as stupid as Bob Ryan's comments about Joumana - because you can't justify the fact that what he said was WRONG.
So I guess, thanks for being intelligent posters. If you ever come across someone on here that says something stupid - just be thankful that you aren't posting with the people on the IGN boards. That's all I have to say
