I guess it would be Rondo because I don't see him as a role player anymore.
Everyone else named in this thread was already rated finely and appreciated accordingly.Comment

I think Fisher has to be in the conversation.
With Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Ariza, and Odom, I thought he would be fine at making wide open three pointers, not turning the ball over, and playing something that resembled defense.
He failed at all three, and has hurt the Lakers more than any other non-injured player in the playoffs IMO. Not at all what you'd expect from a veteran needed for very specific things.Comment

I was already a fun of Scola watching him playing for Tau in spanish league and for Argentina you had to know the intensity and passion in his game.
I absolutely loved the celtics glen baby perkins even scalabrine, rondo is already a star for me. Ariza reinvented his game great decisions and fantastic athlete.Last edited by amra01; 05-24-2009, 02:14 PM.Comment

Re: Which role player has changed your impression of him the most?
I'm with you on this one. Fisher has regressed and turned into pretty much crap now and I used to like the dude. He plays ZERO defense now and all he does is flop and now he even trys to flop on the offensive end. He is FAR FAR FAR away from the tough as nails guy he used to be. Which is a shame cause that's the very reason the Lakers brought him back.I think Fisher has to be in the conversation.

Marcin Gortat. Never heard of the dude, thought he was just some bum sitting on Orlando's bench. Saw he had a couple decent games just looking at the box scores, but after actually watching him play, I've been pleasantly surprised. Orlando hardly loses a step with Howard out. Sure, Gortat isn't quite the physical presence Dwight is, but he plays quality minutes. He's more athletic than I originally thought, he rebounds well, he makes good defensive and effort plays. Gortat FTW![NYK|DAL|VT]

Joakim Noah - Hated it when the Bulls drafted him. Was convinced he was a knucklehead when he got into it with Ben Wallace his rookie year and getting busted that offseason for marijuana possession. Wanted him gone at the start of this season when he came in completely out of shape.
But in the playoffs, he really showed me something. He played with heart and a relentless motor. He practically wiled the Bulls to the win in Game 6.
Mickael Pietrus - I'd seen highlights of him in GS. Knew he was a hell of an athlete. Never knew he was as good of a defender as he is.
Mo Williams - I thought he had a little heart before. Now I see he's a gutless regular season wonder.Comment

Re: Which role player has changed your impression of him the most?
I'd have to go with Big Baby and Peitrus.
Rondo had a great playoffs by almost averaging a triple double, but I kinda thought of him as more than a role player, so I didn't consider him.
Big Baby was huge for the Celtics, made big shots, guarded much taller guys, and basically was the only other valid scoring option besides Pierce, Allen and Rondo in the starting lineup.
Peitrus came out of nowhere for me. Heck I used to work for the Magic and I didn't know who he was before the playoffs. That guy hits big 3 after big 3 and he's so athletic that he can run the floor, slash and defend. He is probably the biggest surprise to me, just because I hadn't heard about him.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: Which role player has changed your impression of him the most?
This will all be re: playoff teams since they're fresh in my mind..
Positively:
Kendrick Perkins -- dude is seriously one of the Top 3 defensive Cs in the league, maybe the best... just holds his man down and requires very little help in doing so. Solid off-ball scaring the crap out of people as well.
Delonte West -- I always liked dude, but he showed how versatile and scrappy he is this season... great pickup for CLE. If only he were tall enough to guard Lewis/Turkoglu
Trevor Ariza -- that shot is nice now, and that's all he needed to imrpove his standing in my mind.. like this guy a lot and would love to have him as a FA pickup for the Nuggets.
Rudy Fernandez -- dude is made of daggers.. just ridiculous.
Negatively:
Derek Fisher -- man, what happened? I know you're old... start playing like it instead of driving and taking terrible layups... Just stand in the damn corner and shoot.
James Posey -- dude was a straight-up ghost in the playoffs. I know he was a bit banged-up, but he provided almost nothing offensively and wasn't even solid defensively on Melo (get blown past every time).
Andrew Bynum -- what's the deal? He looks like a beast some nights (even when injured) but looks totally lost on others. Has nice post moves and everything, just can't a) stay on the floor long enough b) gain the confidence of Phil to use him in key situations.
Mikki Moore -- just LOL... I don't even think he qualified as a "role player" for the C's, but he was just downright garbage. I expexted as much, but WOW... just a terrible signing.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
