    IGNs 2k4 Preview

I'm a little nervous about this game for the following reasons..

    1. Gameplay seems a lot faster- With freestyle type moves, I'm a little worried it might become more of a run and gun dunk off rather than a strategic game of bball.

    2. Supposedly, there is going to be some sort of "bar/meter" under each player at ALL TIMES. However, this isn't for turbo or for stamina- It has something to do with fouling and defense.

Anyways, I'm basically just restating IGN's concerns...But as they said too, these changes could make this game even more incredible then the last.

I have loved this series, but I am PRAYING for some decent AI.

No double teaming guys with 30 plus points..

Hardly any ball movement (you almost never see an open guy take a corner J for three)

Horible reliance on pick and roll...

Time to go to the next level with AI or this series is going to go backwards IMO.

For me, playing basketball online is incredible..However, I usually don't like particular games where my opponent is constantly doing spin moves and crossovers. It's like a game of NBA Jam...Sure, it makes you play good defense, but its not too realistc.

Now if they have made easier with 2k4 to spin and juke, etc...it might be too over the top for me. But then again, it will still probably be the most realistic game out there. I can't see them taking that big of a step backwards.

The AI could definitely improve but its still better then the other games out there IMO.

They better improve the midrange game and have players play to their tendencies. More ball movement and players coming off double screens to get wide open jumpers, better defensive AI, etc. I don't care how many little improvements they make to the game, it's still essentially the same game as NBA 2k3 if they don't fix what's really wrong with it, IMHO. I'm hoping they can fix it, because NBA 2k4 would have a real shot at being a great b-ball sim.

also, i hope they dont send you to the line for every blocking foul like they did in 2k3...thats just basic rules that they screwed up. I also hope for better defense of the pick and roll....more double screens and overall better movement without the ball, backdoor cuts, better ball physics(i.e. long rebounds on long shots) fix those things and i'll be a happy camper

For some reason game companies always seem to forgot the most important part of the game. Which is the AI, I just hope Sega keeps making sim type games. Please "NO Arcade"
