Re: Awesome tribute to the best SF to ever play the game
Indeed, a very special player and a Hall of Famer in every sense of the word. He had such an advanced understanding of the game and had the best anticipation skills of all time (which made up for his lack of athleticisism, especially on the defensive end). His passing skills were very good and he always made the smart pass over the flashy one. He was a 3 space rebounder as well. Bird was also the 2nd best clutch shooter of all time. Though he wasn't a great man defender, he had a masterful understanding of team defensive principles. Also note that he was one of the fiercest competitors the game has ever seen. -

When he played I used to hate him, but now looking back at him and his style of play I have great respect. He really did have 0 athleticism, but his instincts, shooting touch, and Basketball IQ were second to none. One of the all-time greats for sure.Comment

If Larry Bird was black and more athletic this wouldn't even be an argument.Comment

Re: Awesome tribute to the best SF to ever play the game
I honestly believe Larry was so great because due to the fact he lacked so much athletic ability, he had to compensate for developing his other skills and instincts which many players were not capable of. He ended up working his butt off and look where he is now.Comment

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment
