    Salary Cap Killers

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/column...ntracts-090630

This should be a cautionary tale for GM's as free agency starts tomorrow.

A couple of tidbits that may have slipped everyone's mind.

Utah has New York's unprotected 2010 first round pick(Well played Zeke)

OKC has Phoenix's unprotected 2010 first round pick-Phoenix's owner is known to be cheap, but not totally insane-what happened here???

I guess I see why Boozer, Turk, Gordon, got $$$ in their eyes. Seeing the money that Damp, Dalembert, and Curry got, I guess they thought they were a lock for 12+ mil per.

During a casual conversation with reporters during Team USA's camp in Las Vegas in the summer of 2007, the discussion was about the new NBA trend toward fiscal responsibility. "Damp ruined it for everybody, eh?" said Kobe Bryant,
    I guess Kobe was right.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Oklahoma City Thunder: Receives Phoenix's 2010 first-round pick from Kurt Thomas trade 7/20/07. The Phoenix Suns traded center Kurt Thomas and two future first-round draft picks to the Seattle SuperSonics for a future conditional second-round pick.

Utah Jazz: Receives New York's 2010 first-round pick in the Tom Gugliotta trade 2/19/04. Utah acquired the Knicks' pick from Phoenix as part of a 2004 trade that also sent Tom Gugliotta, another first-round choice used on now out-of-the-league Kirk Snyder and other considerations for Keon Clark, Ben Handlogten and luxury-tax relief for the Suns.

Phoenix first got the Knicks pick during the Stephon Marbury trade.

You can blame the Suns for everything lol.

I think Darius is Blazers GM Pritchards fault. If he didnt send out that stupid email...Maybe teams would of respected the Blazers a little more.

Darius screwed us hard...Instead of having 9-10mil...We could of had like 18 million. AHHH! And of course Memphis just had to keep him.

And damn McDyess is still counting $3 mil against Denver's cap. Pisses me off because that would be enough to re-sign Carter if that's what we want to do and get another minimum player to fill out the roster. It's beans compared to some of these other horrible deals, but at least most of those players played at some point or had a chance to.. McDyess just fenagled his way out and we never got anything from him.

              Heh, poor Suns fans. Man..

Also, the Nuggets traded away Charlotte's 1st rounder, which will be unprotected in 2014 for Ty Lawson. So Minnesota has that for now.

?? He averaged a double-double post-ASW when he was getting good PT (34 MPG). 12/11/1 block/<1 TO per game sounds pretty good to me, especially for an old guy.

And we REALLY could've used him in the playoffs... hatehatehate that players can do that kind of BS. Dude lives in ****ing Houston in the off-season, not like he was totally uprooting himself and his family to go to Denver. I understand loyalty to a franchise or whatever, but when that franchise trades your ***, it's time to suck it up and go with it.

I am just P oed what he did to the nugz. It reminds me of a less severe version of Darius Miles. He had the skill, but not the will. He is turning 36 I believe as a big man...After taking half a year off...His career is going down IMO.

the MLE is always a bad decision for more than 1 season, I could never sign any non-starter for more than 2 years no matter what.

                        LOL yes Kobe is right

but the thing about Damp is that he is a virtual expiring this season. He has incentives for '10 that he will never reach and therefore he will become a team option. In other words, Damp's expiring might be trade bait this offseason in a package with Stack. It will be interesting to see what piece the Mavs can get for that package from a cash strapped team looking to clear room in '10
