My point was not that Kareem was better than Michael. Sarcasm? Ever heard of it? ... The point is that when Kareem was in his prime, he was the absolute best and most people looked at his stats and thought that no one would ever be better. Just a few years later he was topped and judging by this thread, forgotten. A freakin' 6 TIME MVP treated like he was just an average player. Pathetic. These must be children under 25 posting because ANYONE who remembers how the late 70's Jabaar pissed on the league would never disrespect him like this. (Nowitzki? OMG!!!)
My point is that while right now <font color="red"> MJ is the Greatest </font> , there will always be someone even better right around the corner. Sheesh ....................

MJ is the one who raise the BAR of how the NBA should be played. Whether it be offense or defense. A great team leader and he could make people famous.
Sad Washington players would not listen to him of how to play the game.

Greatest of all-time...The Big O. He could do it all. Averaging a triple double for a whole season is absolutely mind-boggling. He may not have the most anything, but name me a more complete player in their prime.

I agree whole-heartedly. But ask these kids where Oscar ranks and they prolly wouldn't even put him in the top 10. No matter how great a player is in his time he will eventually be replaced in peoples minds by the "new" flavor of the month.....MJ will be a victim of this in another 20 years or so . People just have a hard time accepting it.......

Jordan is great, he is my favorite player but, if Jabbar had of played now, you would of think he was the best. The Giraffe can’t be matched. He’s surpassed Chamberlain, in the 70’s IMO. The greatest marketing campaign in the history of sports.

MJ WAS the NBA in the 90's so obviously most people (under 25 anyway) would consider him to be the greatest. Old guys who saw Wilt, Russell etc say they are the greatest......My point (and HM Mcoy's i think): people's perception of greatness is directley related to how long ago they retired and how fresh they are in our minds. That is why kids today are saying things like Kobe is the best player in the history of the nba and next year people will be saying LeBron James is the best player in the world because they are marketed so effectively. Hope that made sense.
