    Defensive Questions

Man, this game is so addicting, but one thing that bugs me is that I can't play any defense whatsoever. I very rarely ever block a shot and getting steals are borderline impossible with me. Does anyone have any good defensive tips? Right now my strategy is basically to let a guy open from the outside and hope he misses his jumper. that or I mash the turbo buttons and the steal/block button. You can just imagine how effective these are...

Also, is there any way to change the options of the NBA challenge and Be a Legend? I was wanting to turn of the shot clock, but I couldn't find the menu to do that in these modes. I am guessing that you can't do it, but if anyone figured it out, let me know.

    Re: Defensive Questions

There are basically two kinds of D I play with Street.

    1. To play against the Comp on the hardest level, I have to have a seven footer with big blocks and power. (I have used this strategy and have beat the game on the hardest level). In this strategy, I use that player exclusively and never go for any steals. I use this player to patrol the lane. He will usually be able to goaltend any threes and can knock people down if they try and drive the lane.

    2. Currently I've dropped down on difficulty and have resorted to playing non-goaltending D. (BTW this has given me great close games at times) I basically play tight D on everyone. Timing is everything when going for steals. If the comp is going to do a trick move, I back up a little, let him do it and right when he is done go for a steal. At times I also run up to a guy and do a trick counter.

The biggest thing that you can do when playing D is to choose your players appropriately. I tend to side with the guys that can block and rebound as opposed to the guy with big steals.

        Quick question about trick counters...

Can you do more than one trick counter or is a trick counter steal the same no matter which turbo buttons you push. I was wondering because it would be insanely difficult if you had to counter by pressing the turbo buttons that the offensive player is pressing to do their trick move.

I find double teaming helps too (pressing down on the right thumbstick). When the ballhandler is behind the arc, send a quick double team to force a kick out. One, it clears the lane for your shotblocker to manuever and two, it forces the computer to drive up the middle (allowing an easier block). Works really well against Reggie Miller or Larry Bird.
