Does LeBron need a better coach to win?

    Title says it all.

Does LeBron need a better more experienced coach to win an NBA championship?

MJ didnt win anything with Doug Collins, only won with Phil Jackson.
Same went for Kobe Bryant and Shaq.

Shaq also won with the Heat coached by Pat Riley.

Cleveland could not adjust to Orlando at all.
On the other hand, the Lakers adjusted very well, considering the Lakers lost the regular season series against Orlando.

What I am saying is that you can have all star team but without a good coach and team chemistry, nothing is going to happen.

The Lakers also had the personnel to make said adjustments.

remember, the Magic were up on the Cavs by damn near 40+ in the reg season...but every ECF game was close. Give credit for that adjustment. After they shocked the world by beating us here, many thought we wouldn't even be in games with these guys on the road given the mismatches, and while most people look at MB's wacky defensive assignments like WTF?...we jumped out to huge leads in almost every game. It was working pretty well with the starters...it failed when he didn't adjust to the bench crew. Mike Brown also wan't responsible for Mo, Z, and the entire bench's offense completely vanishing in that series. Had any one of those guys stepped up to the moment, Mike Browns gambits would look a genius right now, cuz thats just how it works. Brown doesn't "call" the dribble at the top play, lol...thats all Bron.

That said, while MB is strong defensive coach, and is the perfect peronality to deal with a massive ego like Bron's...the Cavs don't win this year, Brown will be undoubtably take all the blame, and rightfully so. If he can't get Bron and crew to run the sets he calls...then he has to go, flat out. He's also not very fluid with moment to moment changes, and sometimes I think his lack of control over Bron makes him overcompensate by being extra hard on other guys. Even consistent performers get in his doghouse and fall out of the rotation pretty quickly.

In the end though...What great coach is going to come in here and kiss James' arse? LB? Nope. Popovich? Nope. Coach K? Nope...Lakers if anything. Easy to diss MB...exactly who could do better without pissing off the franchise and getting himself canned?

So what youre saying is Bron is too immature to listen enough to get his team over the hump?

        Talent > Coaching
You need elite talent to win championships

Doc Rivers won a championship 1 year after being the worst team in the league. I'm sure he didn't improve his coachin ability in the offseason.

Mike Brown gives his team a chance to win most games and doesn't do any serious damage to his team. In the end, that is all you can ask for.

Lebron's current coach has one of the easiest jobs in sports. Get the ball to Lebron and let him do the work. Lebron = player/coach. I think Lebron needs more talent around him in order to win.

This is an interesting theory, because basically three coaches have run the NBA in the past twenty or so years: Jackson, Popp and Riley. Diversity in winning amongst coaches is the exception, not the rule.

Meanwhile, league history is littered with a bunch of teams perceived to have the talent to win--Kings, Blazers, Mavs, Suns--but they couldn't get over the hump.

Was that hump great coaching? Was it great players? Both? I'm sure the answer will be argued endlessly.

Regarding the question at hand, I'm not sure the series has the same winner if the Cavs and Magic switched coaching staff.

Does he need a better coach to win it all?? I would say no he doesn't have to. I mean they have been to the finals once already with a pretty weak roster and wasn't that far away from being right back there again last year. They could possibly get it done with Brown as coach.

Could a better coach make it easier for him to win it all?? Sure it could. Better adjustments and coaching could have made the difference in the Magic series and won them the championship. This year will be a very big one for everybody involved in the Cavs organization.

Pat Riley won his first year coaching with the Lakers
Phil Jackson won his second year with the Bulls
Gregg Pop won his third year with the Spurs

I wish the coaches had a track record before their stars arrived but it just isnt the case, so we may never know

You can also make the case that some coaches "get lucky" once a coach has success better teams will want him. Players however...Can be on good teams...And go to a worse team...And be better. I think some coaches get too much credit (not saying they did not contribute to the teams success)
