Stephen Jackson Asks to Leave GS

Seems like he wants to win a championship. He wants to be in Texas, Cleveland ...or NY?

On this rainy and dreary day in New York City this afternoon, Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington were at South Street Seaport for a block party put on by their sneaker company Protege. One of the MCs at the event asked Stack Jack in front of the crowd whether he thought the Warriors were going to make the playoffs. Jackson paused then smiled before responding, “Um…I don’t think I’ll be a Warrior next year. I’m looking to leave.”

Harrington, who was standing beside Jackson, was gleaming with joy at this statement. As you all know, the two were teammates with each other for the Warriors and Harrington left on bad terms with the team - particularly Don Nelson. I asked Harrington if Jackson’s statement shocked him. He laughed then responded, “No I wasn’t surprised. We talk all the time so I knew already. Honestly sometimes you need a change and I hope this change is to come out to New York - that would be nice.”

After they posed for pictures with fans, I was able to ask Jackson more about his bold statement.

Dime: You made a big declaration earlier today by saying you wanted out of Golden State. When did you decide this?
Stephen Jackson: It’s not about a decision I made. It’s just things are in the air right now. I really can’t get too much into it right now, but I’m just looking to go somewhere where I can go and win a championship.

Dime: Are the Warriors aware of this?
    SJ: Yeah they all know.

Dime: Is there anywhere specifically you want to go?
SJ: Either Cleveland, anywhere in Texas or out here with Al in New York.

And Al won't be around much longer, so he shouldn't waste his time. I'm not sure if it would work financially, but holy **** if the Cavs got him.

If I were a GS fan I would want him to leave just to make it so Nelson can't block Randolph with another player.

Warrior **** up not signing Baron. When Baron is happy he is a beast! If they made him the center of the team, they would have made the playoffs. He always gets injured when his team sucks. Just ask Clippers fans.

Stephen Jackson is currently a loser who can score only in streaks and can't/ won't pass, doesn't know what a defensive stance is, and isn't capable of making his teammates better. Wholesale changes are needed for him to become a true all star and not just another stat stuffer who can't lead his team to anything.

I would like to see that Cavs idea but I'm stuck on the NY suggestion, why. And what Texas team?

no he always gets injured because he isnt dedicated to hsi craft and he is an alcoholic, so hes always out of shape...which leads to injuries.

baron can suck my balls too.

actually Alex... Jack can Pass, and he is a willing passer.

Last year he was asked to literally be "The Man", while Monta was injured...which lead to a lot of turnovers and chucked shots. (he was also playing hurt)...

Clearly if Stepehn Jackson is your #1 option you arent doing him, or your team any favors...hell as a #2 option your still not doing them any favors.

he has flaws in hsi game but he is unselfish...seriously...I hate the fact im defending him because right now i wish he would burn in the same pit of fire and brimstone as Brett Favre,Baron Davis, and Antwan Jamison.

                          **** them all...

That isn't what I saw this year. I saw a guy who likes to massage the ball and isolate far too much. Too many contested jumpers and junk shots are what characterizes this guy's game. And for a wing, his handle is very mediocre.

i agree on the handle and shot selection issues...

you just said he "cant" pass.

he can, and when surrounded around other good players he is a willing passer.

problem is he is not a Leader, nor a Captain...therefore when givin the reigns he tries to get his "Allen Iverson Circa 1998 on"
