Salary Cap Question
ok, i was looking at nba payrolls and there is a vast difference between the bottom team(around $45mil) and the top(over $100 mil). My question is how much is the salary cap? and what are the penalties for breaking it?Tags: None -

I'm sorry, but that doesn't sound right to me. I think the salaray cap is somewhere in the $40 - 50 million mark. Then there is the luxury tax mark which is probably another $10 million above that. Every team that goes over the luxury tax has to pay dollar for dollar (not 3 to 1) amount to the league. This money is then redistributed back to the teams that were under the cap. So it's kinda like a double slap to those that go over. They pay all this money, which go to the teams that spend less. That's why Donald Sterling (Clippers) never wants to pay for what he has. He makes a ton of money by not even trying.Comment
