Agreed. Some corny guy in the front office probably thought it would be cool to put that on their uniforms.

White ones are just to honor the anniversary of the original "Rip City" team... I'm sure a Portland fan will chime in momentarily to explain the significance, but they are one-time uniforms (at least they won't be worn after this season if they do wear them more than once).

No other team wears their city's nickname on their jerseys. The only team I can think of is the Warriors, who have "The City" on their yellow throwbacks.

The difference is with the GS jerseys is that "The City" was actually their jerseys back in the day.. trying to put "Rip City" on now is just cheesy IMO. Plus the design just doesn't look good to begin with.

And John, I completely disagree with ya on that. The Oregon Football unis are gold.. on different message boards that center around "fashion" they are well received.

Also the Red jerseys are some of the best "fashionable" jerseys of All-Time IMO. The Whites in that design are even better.

Well the Blazers have always had the nickname "Rip City" since like the 70's or so..

It's a cool little thing, I don't think it looks right on a uniform though lol
