    Who started this trend???

Who started the trend of bringing a superior player off the bench in favor of an inferior player? What is the first one you guys can think of? Well lets just say since 1990. Which team was the first to do this since 1990?

I think Kevin McHale in the 1980's Celtics. He used to get 30 minutes a game and scored like 18 a game off the bench.

Red Auerbach started it when he coached the Celtics and brought John Havlicek off the bench while starting Frank Ramsey.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"
