I'm not doing that, so this is irrelevant. Thing about Iverson two years ago is that it didn't work, and he had some great players he was playing with, along with good role players. You view the Denver formula as successful, but I only see it successful for empty regular season victories and offensive numbers. Denver was not playing winning basketball. I think Iverson can average 23 and 6 on a team like Indiana, playing crazy and winning nothing but regular season games before getting swept in the playoffs, but he's talking about winning a championship. Don't see how the Denver season is admissible evidence for the championship formula with his game.

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis

Everyone points to Denver, people do realize that Nene was not healthy, nor was Kmart, Camby and Anthony Carter were both starting, Birdman was not the same player he is now (did he even play the first year AI was there?), Smith has "matured" more since then , and Melo was nowhere near the player he is now, in fact at that time he was getting Glenn Robinson comparisons and analysts were murmuring that he was the guy from that draft class who would never live up to his potential. Iverson played the most efficient basketball of his career in Denver including getting others involved. Even with all those problems Denver had they still had 50+ win seasons with AI. Give him the team they have today 2 years ago and it could have been a much different story

Iverson should be starting here, I don't see how anyone can argue that. He can still give you 20+ pts and 7+ assists, and on this team they have some talent and could make a splash in the West. The coach is not too smart if he starts Conley over AI. Just look at the comparison of the numbers last game, that's the whole situation in a microcosm. Start AI at PG , score lots of points and see what happens. Even if you criticize Iverson's ability to get others involved (7+ assists in Denver), he's still miles better than Conley

AI's whole thing is he wants to help the team win. Obviously he thinks he can do that much more than Mike Conley can, and I agree with him

7 assists while turning it over 3 times a game translates to more like 4 assists buddy. It's his Ast:TO ratio that shows a lack of true-point ability. On 06-07 Denver he needed 18/19 field goal attempts to be effective on offense, and if Memphis is going to let him shoot nearly 20 times a game they're in trouble.

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis

Bird wasn't on the team when AI was there except for the 2 games before the Billups trade. And yeah, aside from Karl's horrendous coaching and lineups that season, the injuries to Nene and K-Mart were the biggest reason they didn't put up much of a fight and ended up with the 8th seed in the first place. Nene was barely back and playing in the Lakers series after his cancer surgery/treatments and he's one of the most important parts of the offense. The AI/Melo tendem was fun to watch and put up over 50 PPG combined... AI had the most efficient season by far and managed to not really stunt Melo's production much. Regardless if Laker fans were "scared" going into the series or not, a healthy Nuggets team from that year would've put up a better fight than they ended up with.

Iverson: No. Nobody ever said anything about rebuilding. You know I wouldn't have come to a team, at 34 years old, that was in a rebuilding process. I'm trying to win a championship.
              I lol'd at this.

what guard doesnt at least average 3 turnovers a game? For the ones thats average like two isnt putting the ball in the hoop like Iverson does

The back and forth is killing me. People are arguing the little side points, but no one in their right mind is disagreeing with the main points.

                  Bottom Line:

Iverson says he wants to win a ring. His game has changed and he's not willing to adjust to win that ring. He still thinks he is an elite scorer when he is not. His ego still has yet to take a backseat to his brain. He cannot start on a championship level team in this NBA. Every team in the league could have had him for free, and all of the good teams quickly passed because of the above.

the Bottom Line he wants to be ON THE COURT. Averaging 20 minutes a game isnt going to cut it.

and you get the reason why A.I. is playing in Memphis instead of San Antonio, Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles ect ect. Have fun watching the playoffs, A.I.

Yea this is understandable, but its Memphis, i dont see why you dont play Iverson more when he was brought in to win games but it is early in the season, so we shouldnt be too quick to judge

unless you live in bizzaro world, anyone with any nba knowledge would know that A.i signing with this memphis team is doomed.
how can a player with a deserved selfish reputation, and one of the biggest, if not the biggest ball hog in the history of the game on the downside of his career fit with a team that has enough scorer mentality, ball needing players as it is.
                                it is a bad fit.
AI is a bad fit for every team in the league, unless he changes his mindset and embraces a 6th man role. then any contender would be a good fit. but this isnt bizzaro world.
