I dont see anything wrong with what he said. He shouldn't be coming off the bench for Conley at all, we saw bits of chemistry between him and Mayo. It's not like Conley does anything better than him.

What I disagree with is him saying this after the 1st game. Maybe Coach Hollins thought AI wasnt 100 %. Maybe he liked what he saw out of his starting 5 the first two games.

Let's be serious you think the Grizzles signed him to come off the bench? Lets see how this thing plays out.

Come on Memphis, like you're winning anything anyway... suck it up and bench Conley and see where this crazy rollercoaster takes you. Buy the ticket, take the ride, suckas.

But they end up in the lottery either way so why not give minutes to your next generation rather than minutes to an aging vet with a me first mentality?

Rewarding Iverson with more minutes for mouthing off after one game sends the wrong message and when you have a screwball like ZBo in your lockerroom you don't need that imo.

Allen Iverson who cares if you are better than the man playing double your minutes? Who cares if the team would have actually had a chance to win if you had played more? Who cares if you signed with a team after making it 100% clear that you would retire before being placed in the role they placed you in?

Anything you do or say you will be made out to be a "cancer" and "selfish". No matter how justified you are.... Who cares if everything you said was valid and warrented?

I don't see what is wrong here. He wants to play more. I watched that whole game and I thought they should have brought AI in during overtime, especially after Randolph fouled out.

Personally I think Conley, Gay and Mayo are better than AI in their roles today. Those guys all need to play 30 minutes a night. I don't know what AI expected but unless they move Gay or Mayo he is the fourth best guard/wing player on the team.

It was his first game.
It was his first game on a new team.
It was his first game playing with a new coach.
It was his first game back from an injury.
It was his first game on a team that is young and is looking for leadership.
He took his problems immediately to the media instead of keeping it behind closed doors.

Your asking Allen Iverson to come off the bench. If they told T-Mac, Vince Carter, etc to come off the bench they will be saying the same thing.

exactly man... even t-mac is not asked to come off the bench...

iverson 2 seasons ago averaged 26 points and 7 assist... who in their right mind sends a player with that type of production to the bench?

I love AI but i don't see how you guys can keep blindly defending him like this? Brankles summed it up perfectly: First game with a new team, new coach, coming off an injury and you go complain to the media? I don't care if the media asked him the question, have some commonsense and at least keep your mouth shut for more than 1 game!!!

so in an all-star players first game with a new team they should only play 16 minutes EVEN if its a close game and he will give them a better chance to win? the injury is not an issue, he is back, he is ready...

Are people still surprised by stuff like this? Yes, A.I., your resume speaks for itself. You have had an amazing career INDIVIDUALLY. What he has done has not won him a ring. If what he has done is so enticing, why did he have no offers from any contenders? Why is he on the Grizzlies!?

Dude it's one game and he had to go crying to the media. How can you condone that? I realise you have your standard issue AI fan club glasses on but you can't be serious. Going outside of the team like this can only be harmful for your team, no good can come from it.

I love AI, have been a huge fan of his throughout his career and feel like he's one of the greatest players of all time but he was out of line in this instance. For all we know the coach may have been going to play him 40 minutes in the next game but it'll be hard for him to do that now without losing face.
