Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
the other guys play different positions so therefore are not comparable...
For me to write Iverson off like you guys do, I would have to actually see him suck in a position where he should succeed. I would have to see him being outplayed by a guy who earned the right to start over him. Until I see that, I won't jump to the conclusion that he magically regressed from a guy who can contribute in a major way.
Outside of the Detroit disaster, which was doomed from the start, the AI being washed up theories hold no water.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
He doesn't suck.
He is "washed up" compared to what he thinks he is.
He simply thinks he's a entitled to things when clearly that is not the case. If that were the case more teams would have wanted him. At least a fringe playoff team. No dice.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
Normally a training camp battle should determine who starts if things are unclear. But when the two people in question are Allen Iverson and Michael Conley, there is no doubt who is the better player.
If I was Allen Iverson I would accept the bench role for right now. Then prove on the court why I should be starting. BUT when you don't start, and you also only play sporadically and don't get a chance to prove your self, you need to speak up for your self.
Now if he was in Boston claiming that he should start over either Rondo or Allen, or in LA claiming he should start over players who just won a title, it would make more sense for people to hate him for wanting to start.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
Um coaches definately need to adapt to their players... some players get established in their ways after playing in the league for so long... really most players... how many players change this deep into their careers without suffering an injury that causes them to be less effective, or some type of other physical limitations?Last edited by o_capone; 11-04-2009, 12:44 AM.Comment

Do you think this is a good example for his teammates? If the coach makes a decision they don't like, they should speak their mind to anyone who asks them about it? What does this do to team morale and how do you think this effects the coach and his ability to control his team?Comment

Debating with A.I. fans should be against the TOS, its like talking about race, religion, or politics. It can never end well, especially on a message board.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

im not even a big AI fan... I just can't believe the way people talk about him... hardly any of the anti-ai people have valid arguments....Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
I think we knew this was going to happen sooner or later... I guess no one thought it was going to be this soon. He is not a good fit there... already too many scorers there and I wouldn't start AI either when you got up and coming talent. Plus although AI was told he was going to start, this is his first game of the season and from a injury at that. Disappointed at AI...
AI should have went to Larry Brown and the Bobcats. They need him and he needs them. No other winning squad out there will gamble on AI especially since he wants to start.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
So every time a player complains about minutes, the coach needs to adapt to them?

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
I honestly think Iverson is paranoid. It's like the same thing happening all over again, as one of his fans I hope he can at least get a chance to prove people wrong about saying he's lost or step or prove his fans wrong about him not losing a step either way I'd really like to know whether he's a lesser player then he's been all these years.
Everyone is always saying how he cant play anymore and is a role player but if we aren't looking at stats then what are we judging from? I agree 17/5 isn't as impressive as 26/7. But, the more I look into it only thing that truly dipped was his MPG and his FGA's. Rip and Iverson has both came out and said curry lied to them so, I'm just hopping he gets atleast 1 game to play about 35-38 mins to show me and everyone wether he's lost it or if he's really just not getting his minutes.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
This years Grizz team might be enough to make me pony up for League Pass again. I just absolutely know that at some point (probably after the All-Star break) Randolph, AI, Mayo, and Rudy are going to end up getting into a battle royal during an actual game for the ball. Between the Grizz and the Warriors its like i'm in a time machine back to the coke-fueled ABA days.As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
The last time Iverson led his team to the playoffs as the teams best player was when?
The last time his team won a playoff series was when?
Iverson is declining. He is slower. He isn't better than any of the players playing ahead of him in Memphis. No one wanted Iverson this offseason besides Memphis.
Iverson's current state in the NBA has little to nothing to do with his past coaches. It has everything to do with him being on the downswing of his career.Comment
