Beware of Eric Dampier

Eric Dampier has been impressive this season: 10 ppg, 11 rpg, and 3 bpg.

So it will not shock anyone to know that Dampier is once again on the final year of his conract. He has been an overpaid waste of space for much of his previous 5 years in Dallas... but he has now re-emerged for the final yeal of his contract. He pulled the same stunt in Golden State all those years ago... following up 6 (mostly) lackluster seasons with an impressive final season. That's how he landed his big contract in Dallas.

I absolutely despise players like that. Players who are basically in hibernation, but will re-emerge on a contract year. Players that play for their wallets, not their hearts.

I feel sorry for whoever Dampier fools into signing him to a contract next season.

I think everyone expects too much from centers. These guys are not going to score over 12 ppg anymore. The game changed. The players changed. The systems changed.

Dampier is overpaid. But not a waste of space. Half the teams in the league would love to have him starting for them.
