Re: Where is the line between having fun and disrespect
Thats the real bottom line of the thread. You could name a few players who do the exact same thing he is saying but no threads on them.
This is the worst part about it, there is no real basketball news to curb madness like this, other than NJ's losing streak ending, LeBron dancing is nothing new under the sun....done before ho hum
I have nothing against the Cavs and what they do but I don't agree with your post.
This thread is madness? Haha ok.Comment

Re: Where is the line between having fun and disrespect
Everyone has a line where a celebration is "too much" or "at the wrong time". Considering this is three dances during the course of the game, one along the baseline, it's pretty obvious that the celebration is going to be out of hand according to some people's standards.
People who already dislike Lebron are going to be disgusted seeing him carry on like this(and this is unarguably "carrying on" at the very least). But there are also people who are neutral to Lebron who can point out that he's carrying on without it turning into a hate session.
Personally, I think guys should be allowed to celebrate. I even think they should be allowed to dance. The subjective element is whether a celebration is crossing over into showing up the opponent.
I'll also note that I can't remember ever thinking of Lebron as an excessive celebrator, or a guy who carried on when he was winning. He has a genuine enthusiasm for basketball and I think in this isolated instance, he went beyond that into the area of carrying on and showing people up beyond being caught up in the moment.Comment

Re: Where is the line between having fun and disrespect
LOL. I wonder if they are just keeping Danny Green around so he can dance with Lebron. I'd be willing to bet that the Dancing with the Stars people contacted Brons folks after all this.
If I'm Noah I foul him hard next game and move on.Comment

Re: Where is the line between having fun and disrespect
Exactly. We can bring other things into the conversation. Jarrett Jack tying his shoes in a blowout, Ricky Davis missing a layup on purpose to pad stats at the end of a game, JR Smith shooting threes at the end of games they are winning. I admit there are much more disrespectful things that happen, I'm wrong for trippin on Lebron about this. Now Playing: FIFA 15, NBA2K15Comment

Re: Where is the line between having fun and disrespect
Says who? Donaghy's been discussed ad nauseam. Your point?
So it's ok for a cop to dance over someone he/she apprehends? Maybe Obama should've danced once he won the Presidential election? Maybe the next time a team wins they should just do the D-Generation X gesture to the entire team.
The point is you've defeated your opponent by 20 pts. Now you want to rub it in with some foolish dancing? You've already won.
I didn't really like Twan's shimmy, and i don't really like Bron's dancing and goofing off. But a cop dancing "over someone he/she apprehends"? Really? Have you ever been detained? Have you ever heard a group of po po cracking jokes and talking shyte about you while you're in the back of a squad car...or had your lid knocked into the dirt, been face down in a gutter with brand new gear, or had your sounds yanked out while you were cuffed on the curb...some of this stuff on routine stops?
Lemme fix that paper-thin analogy, my friend.
A guy gets apprehended after being caught red-handed, and is waiting in a car while the cops are all standing around BS'ing for a few minutes congratulating themselves about 50 feet away. The "hot" song comes on the radio, and the cop does a little shoulder lean, which gets a laugh among his buds. Maybe another copper joins, and they laugh some more. He's not doing it "over" the suspect...not directing it at the person he apprehended as he's about 50 feet away and in the back of a squad car. The cop is having fun with his fellow officers. Now the stupid bastid who just got caught is in the back of the car...again, 50 feet away...with FAR more important worries, is now all pissed at the dancing? LMAO.
Now, I hate the dancing shtick because it looks feminine, and a 6'8" dude jitterbugging around just isn't a good look, IMO. It doesn't seem professional, but in an entertainment industry thats debateable. Most fans love it. The Cavs bump more current rap jams than any other arena, and have a hip-hop dance team that performs along with the cheerleaders. The Hip-Hopping is built into our atmosphere. Personally I'd rater James leave the dancing those little dudes, but he often clowns around when things are going well. But going back to the analogy, does Noah (the apprehended guy) look like a buffoon worrying about that crap when he's got much bigger problems on his plate? Yes. As I said before, a lot of cops do much, much worse. If he's mad at that scene, his anger is strictly out of frustration at getting caught. As someone said, I like that Noah took it personal, but c'mon.
LeBron should have spit on their bench, lol. Show me one post where you got all up in arms about Paul Peirce doing that, JB. Or other players dancing for that matter. Show me one post blasting another player for it, lol. A player or team's fan bias is clear...we wear it on our sleeves. But anti-bias is almost cowardly. People hide behind bull**** pretend morals that surprisingly, only apply to a specific person (why no outrage about Moon, eh?). Just say you don't like the dude, and move on. If this were Richard jefferson, whom I dispise, maybe I would be more upset with it...but I would at least have the cahones to admit to the bias, SMH. I don't care for the dancing either, but these armchair phycological profiles of James based on this stuff is ludicrous.
And I wasn't there, but I guarantee there is shouting, crying, hugging, singing, fist-pumping, AND dancing when someone wins an election, lol.Last edited by HMcCoy; 12-08-2009, 12:15 AM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: Where is the line between having fun and disrespect
I've never liked LeBron and never will He's given me too many reasons not to like him. He reminds me of when I was 16 years old and cocky as hell. Thats why he bothers me..I grew up quick. He still hasn't. I can list reasons I don't like him if anyone wants.
His arrogance is just crazy. This thread is hardly about the dancing for most people I would think. It's just a constant patter of him doing stupid crap that makes him seem like he thinks he's better than everyone.
I respect this.
He also gets away with steps on at least 50% of his contested drives, and he verbally flops on every foray to the basket. If he weren't a hometown guy playing for my Cavs, I'd prolly like Bron A LOT less.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

I've had plenty of run-ins with cops. In fact I got pulled over twice while having had a few drinks after a night in the clubs, but presented myself professionally, coherently, passed a field sobriety test and was on my way.
Again, cant' speak for you...but seen many dudes try and pull ish w/ the cops. The bump MY music in my air force ones-types, and seen this attitude with dudes that gets them the treatment they receive. But that's far off from the basis of what I said regarding two professional types...
The keyword here is "P-R-O-F-E-S-S-I-O-N-A-L"...
Again...That's where I'm going with this. When I bust out some wicked financial analysis at my paper-pushing desk job I don't get up out my seat and start popn and lockn.

The dancing coupled w/ the horrible way in which this dude loses is MY issue.

He'd cuff his hand around his ear to get the roar of the crowd but wouldn't be dancing.
Start a "I can't believe Ronny Turiaf" thread and I'll gladly show my distaste...oh wait..."hate"...for him. It's not limited in scope. I just didn't know Turiaf danced or PP did whatever....I otherwise don't care about what other players, on a nightly basis, do in celebration.
However, when it's brought to my attention via OS I'm then aware. If there was already a Ronny Turiaf thread that I never saw than please point me in that direction. Otherwise don't sit here and make it seem like I'm singling out one player when I'm not even aware or have any idea that there are other players out there with multiple dance routines.... lol that just sounds funny and gay at the same time.
It reminds me of "Dazed and Confused"....
