Everybody on that team including Shaq, Kobe, Malone, and Payton are goin to want the ball and this might be one big problem for the Lakers. I just hope they don't do what Shaq and Kobe did their first year together. All I know the Lakers better play as a team if they want a championship, instead of Shaq, Kobe , Malone , and Payton.

Payton and Malone might cause a problem
When you sit down and think about it, this whole Payton and Malone thing might be one big ego trip.

Re: Payton and Malone might cause a problem
I think this has been thought of and discussed a bunch of times already.
Personally, I think they'll be fine. They know what they're getting into. They know it's Shaq and Kobe's team. They're not some headstrong rookies who just want the money. They're vets who have been thru it all who just want to win. And winning means that they keep their egos in check. Everyone, not just the two new pickups. Phil will be working wonders this season. -

Re: Payton and Malone might cause a problem
Does anybody remember the 1998 all star game? It was Jordan's last before his second retirement. Kobe was having an outstanding night but Malone asked the coach (it was either Tomjanovich or Karl) to sit Kobe in the 4th so that Jordan could have the MVP. Am I remembering this correctly? It makes you wonder what kind of respect these two have for each other now.NBA 2K18 ratings for several seasons generated from advanced analytics using the SportsCrunch system:

Re: Payton and Malone might cause a problem
My main question is who goes to the bench in crunch time...so that the balance is right?
ie, 30 seconds to go...the defense collapses on Shaq...he kicks it out to...
who? Payton shot the three at less than 30%...so does he have to sit?
GP's strenght is posting up and dishing...but the lanes going to be packed and there's no 3 point shooters in the team...so what sort of game does he play?Comment
