LEbron still settles for the jumper way too much...

He was penetrating at will during tuesday night's game vs Toronto, but when the 4th quarter came rolling, he went 0 for 7 because he was settle for horrible jump shots.

Oh and Lebron driving to the hole full speed is probably the most unstoppable move in Sports right now because of the fact that it's guaranteed points either with a foul or without it. I say keep doing it when there's nothing to stop you from doing it period.
      i love that term.

He shoots twice as many jumpers as he takes shots at the bucket. If he drove more and settled for the jumper less, he could score the same amount of points on less shots, play more efficiently, and get his teammates involved more. IMO, he's forcing his "maturity" and it is holding him back from being even more dominant, which is insane.

I watched that game too and he was settling for the j until Shaq got on him. After that, he started going to the rack again.

Lebron needs to develop a back to the basketball game.

Mighty good question. Seems like it would be tough to score that way.

LeBron’s Annual To-Do List, Part 1: The Post Game

Outstanding analysis of Bron's post game development, and also an interesting commentary on the fact that LeBron will never please everybody.

Re: i hate lebrons step back to halfway and iso

When you’re a physical specimen like LeBron, basketball should not be chess. The defender does not have 15 minutes to react to LeBron’s move. He’s got less than half a second. Three or four simple but effective moves from the post, and LeBron’s not going to be able to be stopped.
Which brings me to my main critique of LeBron’s current post game: he’s trying way too hard to be pretty. He’s trying all these tricky fadeaways and modified hooks from the mid-post, when he should be taking one or two extra power dribbles, getting to where he can go over either shoulder, and draining easy bunnies all day long. He’s falling into the Fetish of Skill and trying to impress with the most intricate post moves he can pull off instead of going back to the basics, focusing on his footwork, and creating easy shots.
                      Couldn't agree more.

Bron gets doubled 8/10 times he's that close to the basket with a smaller defender pinned. He would do well with some super quick Twan-like post moves or learning to postup is a waste of time since no team is going to let LeBron just power-dribble into bunnies all game.

The mid post is the promised land. It's a post up version of the triple threat. At about 15 feet away, the shot is easy enough that you can't concede it, but it's too far from the basket for a good trap. Only very, very good defensive teams can effectively defend the post from this position. The post up man can hit the turn around(if he's acquired that skill), face up, pass to cutters and see the double teams.

I think the 15 foot post up is the most perfect one on one position for a 6'5" to 6'9" player in today's game. At Lebron's size and ability, this would be the most effective weapon in his arsenal over the long hall.

Most teams go to this type of isolation. The Nuggets use Melo or Billups on the wing, Kings use Tyreke or Kevin Martin, Atlanta iso's Jamal Crawford.

Anyway the Cavs offense is best when they push the ball, as Fat Barkley says all the time.

I don't like a lot of this isolation-heroism type of stuff. I prefer some backcuts like the Hornets have won two games on or the basic triangle stuff.

So many King haters, lol.He has a bunch of spot up shooters around him so why not drive and kick? Kobe/MJ iso/ed like crazy too. I guess since the King is the most complete player, therefore the best, player in the NBA its an issue. Just bear witness. He's already a lock for the HOF only 7 seasons in with no ring. No need for a post up game because he's too strong for smaller guards anyway.Keep hatin' and you may fail to see the most versatile player in NBA history
