Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
According to respected Forbes analyst Kurt Badenhousen (and proclaimed NBA expert), the chances of the Pistons leaving Detroit are slim to none.
"I don't think there is any scenario where someone would come in and move the Pistons. Even in a bad economy, Detroit is much stronger than most other places in the NBA. The Pistons have been extremely successful. They have made a lot of money over the years. When it's all said and done, Karen Davidson is going to paying a big capital gains bill. Mr. Davidson paid only $8 million. I think the team will sell for at least $400 million."Comment

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
No chance, the price tag will probably be too high, they are like the 4th most expensive team ( worth), there are other teams losing money that would be a better fit. Most likely the Pistons will leave Auburn Hills and have a stadium built in Detroit and Share with the Red Wings.chuckcross.bandcamp.com

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
You never thought it would happen to Seattle... you think no team with 40+ years of NBA basketball and even an NBA championship can move... then it happens.
I doubt it will happen, but it may.
I guess also I don't understand the idea that the talent pool is too diluted. Every team except for the Nets and possibly Timberwolves can win on any night... especially with the influx of European talent, there are more capable players than roster spots for many teams. 32 teams would fit the NBA well (so exactly half make the playoffs), but I don't see urgency for either expansion or relocation unless a situation, like Detroit's, is really dire.Comment

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
First off, stop with the "more teams" stuff. The league has peaked in terms of popularity. Now, with the league's popularity at a low, it's time to fix things and adding more teams should not be on that agenda.
Second, outside of the Lakers, nobody pays attention to West Coast teams.
The NBA isn't the NFL. So no one should compare it to that. The NBA would be much better taking a different model more akin to baseball with staggered leagues and development. Get into more cities (rural, smallers cities like Oklahoma City).
The NBA has a chance to become the hip league and is more viable for these smaller cities than football. Think minor league baseball. That is essentially how the NBA should approach the league and expansion IMO. The questions of talent etc... is pointless considering how great college basketball is to watch.Comment

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
The NBA FG% and FT% has consistently increased. Defensive strategy is at an all time high. Different schemes and team strategies are more varied also.
In my opinion the more teams you add the more diversity of play you add which keeps me interested.Comment

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
If the Browns can leave Cleveland, any team can move.
I bet Pistons' fans wish Dan Gilbert didn't own the Cavs. As a Detroit native, he surely would've bought the Pistons and eliminated any question of them moving. Lucky for us, at least one Cleveland owner has brains and money.Comment
