Equivalent? i dunno about that TO. The OJ trial was one of the biggest trials of the century; comparing a double murder to a rape charge? I'll have to disagree, i believe it'll be a short trial. It will have major media coverage yes, but the OJ trial was covered 24/7 by a news channel, like a soap opera.

Said he was innocent about 20 times while trying to hold back tears. Also said he is disgusted and furious with himself. Said he made the mistake of adultery and then turned to his wife and said hes sorry, shes the strongest person he knows and she is his backbone and something like his air he breathes. Kept saying over and over I'm innocent, said that he made a mistake and he is only human, all while holding off tears. Then walked off the stage with his wife (who is really pretty and does kind of look young). Its just strange seeing someone like Kobe trying to defend himself on TV, crying and literally turning to his wife and telling her he is sorry. After seeing that I do feel bad for him and hope he is innocent.

That's why I said sports. OJ was long retired from the game. I can't really think of any professional athlete charged with anything who got any of the media coverage that Kobe is/will get. I know this will be no where near the OJ trial in terms of coverage but this will have an impact on the NBA and Kobe especially if he's guilty.

Imagine the public relations disaster! Kobe has been compared to MJ in many ways in terms of his relationship with the media, corporations, and fans. Kobe would be the biggest name to be tarnished. Sure AI has been in trouble with the law but ppl viewed him as a thug long before that. This would be a squeaky clean guy with a great image being chopped down. It would make the powers that be really think hard about how to control the players.
