    Re: Is Vince Carter "Done"?

I think it a lot of his problems are coming from his shoulder injury. VC has always been the type of player that takes many questionable jumpshots but since his shoulder injury, he's been shooting a horrible %. I noticed that when he does drive, he's not getting the calls he use to get so he starts relying on his jumper. Come playoff time we'll see new jersey VC out there.

Like someone mentioned, right now he's just coasting which is understandable because look at what happened every year jersey got into the playoffs, he was gased and completely worn out! It doesn't help that him and Nelson can't seem to gel but thats because they haven't played together enough.

Nelson is pretty injury prone, I would trade him for a young pass first pg. When J-will is out there, the whole magic team plays a lot better including VC. Package Nelson and B.Bass(doesn't fit the SVG's system) for either a young pass first pg and/or a solid defensive rebounding pf.

Frankly I think this is exactly what Vince was going to be. I would rather have J.J. Redick playing his minutes because he will hustle and can spot and shoot.

Vince Carter is a nice sixth man to me.
Hell I'd say Redick takes it to the hole better too, he just isn't a dunker.

Redick is damn near a blackhole on Defense and if his 3 ball isn't falling, then you're basically getting nothing back from him.

Big game for Vince today. He scored 20 points on 7/13 shooting AT Boston. I'll take it.

Vince was doing crazy dunks in an exhibition game last summer, I don't think he's lost his athleticism in a matter of months( though he obviously is past his athletic peak regardless).

Having said that, at 33, I think it's a no brainer we've seen the best of this guy, and unlike Kobe, he hasn't made the changes in his game to remain as effective once he lost the explosiveness of his youth. Vince also has never been the most mentally tough of players, perhaps part of the reason why he's had a mediocre playoff career. Frankly, after the missed Game 7 shot against Philly back in 2001, he's never been the same playoff performer( I'd say player period) ever since.

Vince has been done since his first year or so with the Nets... possibly before that. He's a guy that still jacks up shots like a first option but is only good enough offensively to be a third option. The Magic should really be dumping it inside to Dwight 30+ times a game and running plays to give Lewis open looks from the perimeter. I agree with a previous poster who said that Vince should be a 6th man type at his current age/play level.

take it from season ticket holder, if vc doesnt fix whats wrong, its going to fall on him . The magic well move him in the off season. And for vince that should be enough the get his sh*t right. He still explosive at times . But i think recent injures are hurting him right now. I mean at unc alum game this past summer he had 4-5 sick dunks.

And they showed those here in orlando like for 3 days during the sports on local news. People were getting excited to see what look like a hy-bird of the old vc and now we are just seeing an "old vc".

I don't know why people down there were expecting Toronto VC when once he was in NJ, he wasn't going to be that same type of player and hasn't been since he left Toronto.

He sure has been playing on another level lately. So short answer to the OP, no.

what i don't get is where the thought of him being done came from. i can look at a player and just tell if he's washed up. i guess it's from watching a lot of boxing and seeing how a great fighter can go to a washed up fighter in one fight. you can just see it, like something's not right. i don't see that at all from vince. i do see it from KG, who looks like he's one year away from retirement. to me vince looks like there hasn't been a serious drop off in his game
