Why can't ATHELETS stay out of trouble and who is to blame???

Let me first start off by saying I reconize that "most" professional athletes are easy targets for people who are just trying to make a fast buck...But at the same time the world doesn't revolve around these athletes like they think it does either....My question to you is where do we draw the line between exploitation and ignorance on both sides of the spectrum??? Also why do we tend to see more african american folks in the news instead of others....???
I beleive the first problem is that our society is too freeking obsessed with sports in general "srar struck" basically... We the public continue to give Wayyyyyyy too much credit to athelets who on a whole really haven't done all that much in terms of changing lives with in our society..Yes there are some exceptions But overall many dont nor should they be looked upon as the backbone of our society..You cant compare these athletes to the good doctors, teachers, and most important good loving parents that is the foundation of our society.. So where do these fundamentals get lost and how can we take it back? How do we reinstill decent morals/values so that our youner generation reconize the many "realistic" ways to a better life??
I know I may catch heat for this But my first complaint is directed towards the lack of good parenting right up to the media and when I say media I mean in the way that they over expose and minipulate socitey...Honestly, maybe 3 out of 10 commercial is positive or helpful the rest of the time its all about selling u or some bull**** product?? I dont mind it because that is what capitialism is I guess But the constant "up in my face" with it has reached levels in which I never would imagined.... Every tv/radio channel possible is feeding us more and more garbage...now i could just tune it out right...well tell me how to tune some idiot at a resturant braging about something they or their friend just bought ect..all i wanted to do was have a nice relaxing dinner with my wife....Its like this [censored you naughty boy] never ends from the mometnt you wake up until the time you go to sleep...Day after Day after Day Its all about the dollar bill and how to get if you dont got it or how to flaunt it if you do...
Before you folks call me a sellout or uncle tom or whatever please understand that im not hating or attacking any paticular group but trying to find some common ground so that people can live a normal life in peace...cuase i sure dont see it??? Oh and before you go there I have no plans in becoming Amish or joining some secluded group ect...im talkin about giving some power back to the people is all.

it is very simple. power corrupts!!! they have a feeling of invincibility and people give them too much credit for being these great overall people when all they are in reality is people with great athletic talent.

from the second these guys start to stand out they are taught to be selfish. that they are cooler, better, stronger and more important than others. then they get out in the "real" world, they have a fantasy island view of life. some people support that and then the athletes can't discern realty from fiction.

gary payton recently said "i already got the big paychecks, now i want the ring." some out there feel this is so noble and wow, gary wants to win. the last time i checked a $4 million dollar paycheck is still a lot of money to everyone you ran with back home in oak-town, gary. that ain't noble, running into a burning building as a fireman is noble. and those out there who think gary is noble are foolish.

we look at people back in the dark ages who worshiped the rich and royale without question. we think "how stupid can they be?" some need to look no further than their adulatiion of sports heroes.

Like Mark Cuban said. The NBA is a business, and only about 1% of the total players get into trouble. Thata's pretty good for a business don't you think?

The real question is why cant people stay out of trouble? Why do we hold athletes to a higher standard? Most athletes are less educated then most people biut when they get into crimes that everyday people get into people cat like its a huge deal? I bet there a ton of people on this board who have done some drug (smoked weed for example) in their life. The only differnece between those people and Damon Stoudamire is that he got caught (also I dont think anybody here would vbe stupid enough to try to take it through an airport).

People (not just atheletes) get into trouble all the time. The only difference is when they get arrested iots on the news.

I agree, but saying atheletes are less educated? They know whats wrong and what is right, and what the consequences are when you do something wrong as any of us. Not much education in that i think, especially with the example of kobe being an intelligent guy and still get in trouble.

I'm thinking since these atheletes have a lot of money they think they can get away with somethings. We all grown up knowing that, if you have more money the more you can get away with, and as soon as these guys get rich they are much more bold to do things they were less likely to get away with before.
