A WFAN report said AI made nearly $200mil playing ball, but now he's close to broke.

Basketball Reference says he made $153m from salary, so adding in all his endorsements I'd say $200m is accurate.

These ******* live-in-the-moment people are brutal. How do you not hire an f'n financial planner? Just don't get how people can be so ****ing stupid when dozens, if not more, of people in your shoes have made the exact same mistakes. It's not even possible to feel bad for him.

This just infuriates me. First of all, if a White guy says this around here, he's banned. I really want to say something, but I won't. Maybe you should just re-read what you wrote and ask yourself how wrong it is in so many ways ..... and what other interpretations you can deduce!

Yeah, some Russian/Greek/Spanish team would probably pay out the *** for him and fall all over themselves to do it, even with all these questions hanging over him. He'd be by far the biggest star in Euro basketball from day one, even if he wasn't playing all that well.

And he'd probably blow that money away too.

terrible. these people have so many demons inside of them. all we get to see is there gracious play on the field or court not knowing that these guys are battling themselves every moment. not even 200 million dollars can change that. and to GSW, even though that statement is absolutely irrelevent here, you are absolutely right. and im a white guy!!!

If he's blowing close to $200 Mil away after all these years, then how fast do you think he would go thru his money if he was playing in Europe.

As for John Thompson, I've heard in a interview he did on his show a few years back that he doesn't believe in trying to be someone's "Guardian Angel everytime these athletes get in a jam/situation". Now if someone comes to him asking for advice or whatever then he'd would have no problem giving them advice but he just doesn't agree with the notion that if an athlete gets in trouble that he automatically HAS to do something.

its sad overall and im not just talkin bout A.I

they build us up to break us down.
This is true in so many was, its how entertainment news works...

I wouldnt even make it a race thing because you never hear "good" stories about cops for 1 example...

You would think that all of the attention especially negative attention contributes to a celebrity's downward spiral, I mean look at have of these other celebs...They wacked out if you ask me

Quite frankly I dont care about these stories...I rather hear things thats informative like how could I receive one of those scholarship funds one these celebs set up....

As for AI, look how people freaked out because he was at a party last week or whatever, the reason was ignored and the fact that his daughter was in ATL was ignored as well(compared to the Sixers West Coast road trip vs the distance between ATL-NC)

Heck look at the whole Tiger Woods drama...

Melo donating millions of dollars to Syracuse isnt front page news..

Melo getting rob for millions of dollars is...

Tiger Woods getting married to a non celeb is not front page news..

edit- I havent heard anything about Big ben until I went into the NFL forums....

Pat Croce has businesses to run. He's not AI's pops. And John Thompson? Dude let Iverson have free reign. All his "father figure" stuff is horse****.

As for what GSW said...these people have to stop acting like women and learn to take responsibility for their actions. Use their brains.

Coach Thompson is right. At some point you have to grow the f*** up, be a man, and handle your business.

All I gotta say about the whole Iverson situation is that it's very sad. His life has imploded all around him and if it's true what sources are saying about him either gambling his life away or drinking himself to oblivion then that will be a huge tragedy. I don't think AI is necessarily a bad guy but his demons have overwhelmed him completely.

Here's to hoping he finds a way out of this because i'd hate to see a headline in 5 years like this:

"Former NBA superstar Allen Iverson found dead in his home"

Why is JT supposed to be a father-figure to all. AI is a grown a** man with a family. He needs to man up and take care of himself. And how do you know that JT doesn't talk to him behind the scenes. If AI wants help he needs to seek help. Not the other way around.

I didnt say anything about to all. There are probably 2 people if that, that AI will listen to, and Thompson is one of them.

If he was looking for a job again he'd be bumping his gums so why not? Its not his responsibility to make AI grow up but he does have the right kind of influence, and that's not just to pick and choose whom you dish that kind of responsibility out to.

That said the last time this dude was having an issue he came out towards the end of it to give his 2 cents, so why all of sudden now he feels as though he's going to pass on this one?

Dont get me wrong, I've said it earlier in this thread, probably the first one to say it that AI needs to grow up, just to let the record show.
