I'd die happy with a Denver-Atlanta finals... The Nuggets have never even made a Finals since joining the NBA and are the only ABA merger team to still not have won a title. And the Hawks haven't won a title since freakin' 1958 when they were still in St. Louis. That would be great for either team/city... not to mention, a RIDICULOUSLY fun and exciting series.

          Pretty much.

I love seeing the bias come out of people.

I know that people here don't give a rat's behind about this angle, but as an aside, I think that if any team comes out of the West besides the Lakers, a new record low for ratings will be set in this upcoming finals.

LeBron is the league's brightest star now, but he still hasn't reached the point where casual or even moderate level basketball fans will watch a series just to see him.

Besides their hardcore fans and a few message board types, no one cares about any teams out West besides the Lakers. Every bandwagon fan, and bandwagon ***** will be bubbling with excitement, as usual, at the prospect of L.A. winning or getting beat. Any other team, "ehh, whatever, who cares"

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I think Denver, Orlando and MAYBE Dallas would be the exception but for the most part you're right.

So you want some entertaining basketball ala Vince McMahon style? Because that's basically what you'd be getting with each game played.

man, as a neutral fan it's hard to pick favorites down the stretch. i want to see dirk and kidd win a ring. i love that nuggets team and the swagger they play with. would love to see shaq win another ring along with jamison.

if i had to pick one to happen out of all of those i'd probably pick shaq getting another ring, and then coming back next year to do it again

Stumble, your Nuggets kind of remind me of the early 90's Knicks. Both solid teams that can't get past the team that had the game's greatest player. Mike then, Kobe now. Denver will get back to the WCF, then again will finish in second place in the conference as the first loser, because it will be too much Kobe in playoff mode, making up for all of the rest of the Lakers guards weaknesses, the same way Mike made up for the weaknesses of BJ and Paxson in 93.

The Lakers are the favorites. No team has close to the amount of overall talent they have. If they don't win a championship it will be a disappointment. That can't really be said about any other team.

You're acting as if Denver and LA have met in the playoffs like 4 times in a row and lost each time. The Lakers beat Denver once. Last year. And if it wasn't for absolute STUPID plays by JR Smith and horrible inbounds passes twice in the series, Denver would have won that series. Yes, I know it's the "if" game, but it just goes to show that A) you're exaggering Laker dominance, and B) Denver lost on incidental grounds.

                        Oh well, whatever.

Not only was the comparison ridiculous but the entire post is way off

The Nuggets are nothing like the Knicks

The East has two clear cut favorites.

I don't know who the hell is coming out of the West, though. Dallas, LAL, Denver...hell, maybe even SAS, who knows?

I disagree completely. The Magic, Mavs and Boston both have lineups with four All Star caliber players in the starting five. When Orlando made their trades this summer, they added a bunch of talent to a team that made the Finals. If they had a real leader on the court and actually played up to their potential, Orlando would have much higher expectations.

Cleveland is now loaded, with Williams, Jamison, Lebron, Raggedy, Shaq, Z(pending), West, Parker, Moon...that is a DEEP team. What they lack in marquee(and lack being a relative term here), they more than make up for in size and depth. With the emergence of Rondo, Boston would easily have the best five in the league were it not for KG's injury.

Let's revisit Dallas: Dirk, Caron, Kidd, Terry, Marion, Haywood. Three multi-All Stars, two fringe all stars, and a full sized, 10 and 10 center.

The Lakers have two All Stars, Kobe and Pau. Odom, Artest and Bynum are fringe All Stars, and that's a nice five, but after that you don't have anyone who would start on a decent team. The rest of the Lakers are guys who have done nothing in this league.

I could see if the Lakers had more stars, or five All NBA players, but they don't. They have two All NBA guys and some nice players around them. I don't see anything in their lineup that makes them clearly superior than the rest of the league.

They beat them in the first round when Iverson was still there. I know it's not totally the same team(then again, neither are the Lakers) but for Melo, Karl, Kenyon and other major pieces, this would potentially be the third time these teams have met in the playoffs.

Re: There Are No Clear Cut Favorites This Year

I like LAL out of the west again this year but I dont think its gonna be easy trip to the finals. Teams like DAL and DEN can definitely give them trouble but I just cant see either one of them beating the Lakers. B/c even though they are improving its not like the Lakers have gotten worse.

And we all know the playoffs is whole new level and like Denver, the lakers chemistry is something that can still improve. This is Bynums first year back without some major injury so thats one player to look for and then there's Artest also.

Not to mention this Lakers team has been to the finals with basically the same core team (Odom, Pau, Bryant, Fisher, Bench mob lol). So they know how to win and not only that but how to do it together. To me with the addition of a healthy Bynum and Artest they are adding two more players to that squad that they didnt have before.

That is the one thing they have over those two squads and its what will help them win when it counts imo. Granted they only won once but still the experience they gained there shouldnt be taken lightly. And SAS well... there just two old that's all I gotta say bout that haha.
