Re: Someone please explain to me
One team is the Cleveland Cavaliers, playing in Cleveland... they beat Indiana in FTA 44-5 on Jan. 29 of this year. At home, Cleveland has 27 games with as many or more FTA as the opponent and only 10 with fewer than the opponent.
The refs like Cleveland.Comment

Re: Someone please explain to me
It's probably because Cleveland has a lot of players that can take it to the rim, like LeBron, Hickson, Z, Jamison, West, Powe and when healthy, Shaq.Too Old To Game Club

LeBron gets a lot of questionable calls though..WTV, all the star players do..It is something you must deal with.
If the Raps make the playoffs, I'm gonna dye my hair gray cause I know that series is going to age me regardless.Comment

I was half joking about it being a Cleveland thing, but you know those refs are under too much pressure to make/not make calls whilst under duress.Comment

Re: Someone please explain to me
I think attacking the basket is easier said than done.
In Cleveland's case, I suspect LeBron's supreme ability at driving to the bucket and absorbing contact would be a big reason Cleveland attempts so many free throws. I believe LeBron averages around 10 free throw attempts by himself. Further, I would go as far as to say LeBron's play making and his ability to draw help defenses likely opens up opportunities for bigs near the bucket, who then may often be fouled while a defense attempts to regain position.
I've never been big on the whole "superstar call" notion. I see poor calls, but I've never been able to make a true correlation that the official is somehow biased toward a player. In my opinion, we often see stars benefit from these suspsicious calls more often because they are the ones frequently making things happen and catching defenders in awkward positions.
Finally, I do not buy into the "free throws attempts amongst two teams should be generally equal by the end of the game" theory. There's way too many factors from both sides that could heavily skew free throws one way or another.Comment

Re: Someone please explain to me
In just a single game, you're right, one team can win in FTA just like teams get advantages in rebounds, even if they're not great at rebounding. Sometimes it's lucky bounces. However, I went to a Bucks-Heat game recently, and Dwyane Wade was in about 10 scuffles and only got called for 1 foul the entire game, and a lot of it was block/charge stuff that was obviously Wade's foul. I just like to speculate.Comment
