From an NBA point of view...what is the absoulte worst case scenario? I mean, just say the court case makes it look like he DID do it...but he gets off like OJ did, on legal trickery and with 99% of people thinking him guilty...can you imagine the damage to The League when he comes back in and wins titles etc?
Can anyone imagine if OJ had of been 25 and went back to the NFL...it would have been a disaster.
Another horrible scenario would be the Michael Jackson type one...where it looks bad as hell, but then is 'settled out of court'. Jackson has been on a carrer slide ever since. I don't think the NBA can afford to have one of it's absolute elite tainted like that.
The more I think about it, the more unprecedented this is. An elite player in his prime on one of the worst charges possible.
Leaving Kobe out of it, what do you guys think the damage to the NBA will be in the "worst case scenarios".
As stated, this is just a hypothetical...I am just thinking of possible fall out for the NBA itself.
IMO the fall out would be beyond bad in either of those two scenarios.
Naturally, best case scenarios are he gets cleared / gets convicted depending on whether he did it or not.
AS OJ and Jackson have shown though, things don't always work out that simply...
