Why is this even a discussion? What's the point being made even? People were really callin themselves Dirk and Mavs fans here in 2011? Please. Selective memory at its finest. People were rooting for the Mavs hard as hell that year no doubt and we all know why (an issue that wasn't strictly a LeBron issue mind you, try as you might to paint it that way) there was a lot of 'its good to see Dirk get a ring' sentiment going around and laughing at the Heat, but please I need to see the posts where people were proclaimning themselves Dirk fans that weren't before and some proof that they aren't still cheering for Dirk right now after two down years. I certainly need to see some visual proof of who around here was talking 'we' about Dirk and the Mavs outside of SteelersFreak and the other usual Mav guys around here. I know we definitely didn't have any Jerzeys or TMagic's running around with Mavs jerseys and Sixer underwear and whatever team TMagic is claiming today.

The people actually involved in the discussion know what it's about, and it had very little to so with all the stuff you just wrote...I don't know how you got all that lolWhy is this even a discussion? This is the LeBron Janes thread, all things LeBron James related will be discussed here. There's not a need to try and police every argument....just don't participate...I didn't know WTF was up with that Bird argument a few pages back, so I just didn't comment on it...easy as that.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Really 24th? You gonna hit me with a 'I don't know what I'm talking about' basically? Nobody just said that people were acting like they were lifelong Mavs fans? That they were pretending to be huge Dirk fans? There's a deeper discussion going on there that I'm missing? Like I said, there was a whole lot of 'I would like to see Dirk get a ring' sentiment going on at the time no doubt, but I'm pretty sure people were saying the same thing about seeing Shawn Marion and Jason Kidd get their rings as well. At the time, people would've been cheering on the Toronto Raptors or the Bobcats (I realize they're both East teams) to win a ring over the Heat. I won't deny that there were probably some bandwagon guys claiming to be huge Dirk/Mavs fans like any other team that wins a ring, but here? Wasn't happening and on a more grand national scale I don't recall people acting like they were Mavs fans or Dirk fans or anything. They just cheered for the team playing against the Heat. The people actually involved in the discussion know what it's about, and it had very little to so with all the stuff you just wrote...I don't know how you got all that lol

I like how apparently I'm trying to police arguments right now and that's a problem but when LeBron ****s up in a game and someone trots out the "Jordan wouldn't do this or that" lines then its no issue for someone to say 'let that man play and just enjoy it.' Whatever though.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
I wonder how scary Kobe's number's would have been if he was the number 1 option on the Lakers from day 1....... Since you brought up a Kobe vs Lebron stats, here is some other stats that are interesting.
Through their first 10 years in the league Lebron has played in 58 more games, 5135 more minutes, 2408 more fg attempts, 1424 more ft attempts, and 505 more turnovers.
If you want to go by averages, Lebron averages 4.1 more minutes, 1.8 more shots, 1.3 more free throws, and .43 more turnovers.
If Kobe was given the keys, his numbers would certainly be better than they are. How can you realistically compare people? It's all fanboy talk of why a certain individual feels their favorite player is better than someone elses. What is the most funny thing to me about the stats is people always say Kobe shoots too much, but he averages less shots than Lebron for his first ten years and his career.Comment

I think efficiency is the reason Kobe gets harped on for shooting so much.If Kobe was given the keys, his numbers would certainly be better than they are. How can you realistically compare people? For his career, he's a 45.4% shooter and his highest season is 46.9%. Meanwhile, LeBron is a 49.0% shooter and his lowest season average (excluding his rookie year) is 47.2%. As well, LeBron has better TS% (57.5 compared to 55.5) and eFG% (52.4 to 48.7).Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
What I don't get about all the Kobe criticism is that he has never even had a season with a bad FG%. You look at all the other top wing scorers, and he actually consistently has one of the best. This past season he was 3rd in FG% among the top 25 wing scorers.I think efficiency is the reason Kobe gets harped on for shooting so much.

But lebron is in a whole different world with his shooting percentages, I have to admit. 56% this year was all time impressive.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
In regards to criticism of his shooting, Kobe has had the unfortunate joy of playing for the most highly publicized team in the league (outside of the Heat now) and in one of the biggest media markets for his entire career. Therefore, every game he's been in the limelight, so people see him chucking more than anyone else. What I don't get about all the Kobe criticism is that he has never even had a season with a bad FG%. As well, his reputation as a ball-hog who doesn't like to pass doesn't help matters when it comes to that.Ohio State Buckeyes | Carolina Panthers | Charlotte Hornets | Cincinnati RedsComment
