Getting mad because a reporter asked him and he said that he doesn't know is silly.
Who's mad? Why do discussions always turn to this BS on the internet? This is a basketball discussion forum, I'm discussing a topic on basketball. I don't agree with LeBron and I think he's talking out of his *** again, it doesn't mean I'm mad or trying to find "any little thing" to get mad about. It's the dunk contest, you either want to do it or you don't. Nobody asked him about it last year and he brought up that he was going to be in it then backed out for no reason. Now he's talking about wear and tear and all this other crap. If you don't want to do it, just say that move on and stop trying to save face with stupid excuses since it only makes you look worse.

Gentlemen.... Now its about the Dunking contest...lol

LeBron won't join because he won't have the crowd with him as he usually does. Go back in time and watch his dunking contest from the McDonald All American game. If he were to ever join the contest. That is exactly what you would get from him.

He's not a creative dunker anyway so I don't know why anyone would want him to be in.

I agree with that, he's a power dunker and I don't think anything he'd do would really be that impressive or creative. Point is though I'm getting a little tired of hearing about LeBron in the dunk contest, but as long as he keeps saying 'I don't know' or 'I'm throwing my name in the hat' and then backing out when February rolls around people are going to keep asking. LeBron's not quite an idiot, he knows this stuff man, but no sense keeping the camera off you I guess.

I'm trying to still figure out the difference between James and Blake Griffin in terms of a dunk contest.

People are raving about Griffin's selection, that he's going to win hands down and would embarrass James... and I still read things like 'James isn't a creative dunker'. Not saying James is a creative dunker, but I wonder what the difference between Blake and James is.

I dunno, the contest is dead as far as I'm concerned. I tend to watch the Saturday night events and then go find something else to do when the contest starts. If I hear it's good then I'll watch a replay on NBATv or something. Nate Robinson personally killed the contest for me after it's years of life support.

I don't know if you can just label dunkers like that. I wouldn't have put Howard into the creative dunker class. Yet his battle with lil Nate almost resurrected the dunk contest.

Small here... Maybe Blake is doing some else...lol But both those guys jump out of roof. But it is all about creative dunks... When Dwight Howard won a few years back... that was one of the most creative dunk contest I can remember. Gerald Green blowout the candle dunk is a simple windmill dunk. But it looks hot. If Blake can come up with a few things like that. He will win hands down. I know LeBron has a dunk like that he does during warm ups. Where he spins on him attempt to the basketball. Throws it from behind his back off the glass for a windmill. Stuff like that will win you the contest.

                  edit: something like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlOE3JrWptk

He has other dunks he could do... If any cares to see them. I can't find them right now. But I remember when he dropped 50 point in the garden 3-4 seasons ago. He did this under the leg throw it off the glass kind of tomahawk...

                    Re: The LeBron James Thread

Hard to be creative when we've all literally seen every dunk done now. Most, if not all of the "creative dunkers" we know, can't jump like they used to no more and now it's all about using a prop/and or another person anyway.

Who wants to bet $20 that somebody will try to dunk over either a Motorcycle or a car(hoopty)in this year's contest?

I'm starting to dislike Lebron more but I gotta admit this "new" Lebron is kind of cool. Gives Lebron more of a character and is more interesting to watch because of what thing he's going to do next to get on people's nerves. He's pretty much playing a heel, knows it and is doing a good job in playing it.
