So far, the knee doesn't seem to bother him or hamper his play. And he's still one of the best PG in the league.
I would say that's quite an understatement. Definitely the MVP at this extremely early point in the season.

      Re: Let's discuss CP3's knee

Can we have a thread where we discuss Brandon Roy's knee?

The reason Brandon Roy isn't having surgery on his left knee is that there's no meniscus left in either knee.
There is no cartilage left to absorb the pounding associated with NBA play, and he could easily have to have the knee drained several more times this season (he's at two and counting). "The problem is bone-on-bone there," Roy said.

As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

Well considering that the league is flooded with great PG's it's not quite an understatement. Paul in my eyes is probably the second best PG in the league next to Deron Williams. BUT that can change any minute. Paul and Williams inter-change so much for the title of 'Best PG in the league' it's not a stretch to say that one is better than the other. However, you'll get little argument to say that these two are the best the league has to offer right now. I know the Rondo fans would argue with me on this BUT Rondo is not enough of a scoring threat to place him in their class. Rondo is one of the better PG's in the league, just not on the level of Paul or Williams. These two is the cream of the crop.

I highly doubt there is anything wrong with CP3's knee, atleast so far. His teammates are playing so well right now that they enter the the 4th with double digit leads causing him to play less minutes which could be great in the future

And regarding Rondo, yeah he's a great passer but I agree with the above not a reliable scorer his FT% is also what 50-60%?

Well he had the meniscus removed so it is different and he has been wearing a large brace, but some people respond differently then others, he's not a high flying guy and usually plays at a pace that is always dictated by himself so that always helps.

He also took the time to recover unlike Roy who rushed back for the playoffs and has had knee trouble in the past, Paul has had time to strengthen the muscles around the knee during rehab and over the summertime which is key during recovery, I know I've done it and been there over the last year. So he's looking good right now and I'm rooting for him alot. I haven't missed a Hornets game this season I just love watching this team and I hope he is healthy.

I could be wrong, but I think the supporting muscles around the knee have more to do with ACL/PCL/MCL (structural) injuries than the meniscus, which is solely there for cushioning. I don't know of any muscles that take pressure off of the meniscus if they are strengthened. Anybody know for sure? I don't feel like doing the research.

Also, there may be a misunderstanding concerning his knee. I don't think anybody expected this to be an immediate career-threatening injury, rather that the length of his career has been questioned. It's how long he will be able to play with that bone-on-bone knee that concerns me.

Not that it isn't debatable bc everything is really. But it seems an injured year and too much tv coverage for a certain youngin has a lot of people forgetting how good Paul is.
                I totally agree with that...

                  Paul's knee

                  ******** type=text/javascript> espn.core.init.tools('nba-rumors-19379','http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/features/rumors/_/id/19379');</SCRIPT>

As we've touched on previously, it's been reported Brandon Roy has no meniscus left in his left knee due to an operation two years ago. Essentially, he's been playing bone-to-bone for a while now, and it's causing his recent loss in explosion and limited minutes. (Roy also has no meniscus left in his right knee stemming from an operation in the spring.)
In Monday's PER Diem, ESPN's John Hollinger writes about the Hornets' hot 8-0 start.
And tucked inside his analysis is the fact that Chris Paul had a similar knee operation to Roy, and is also miniscus-free in his left knee.
Does that mean Paul could be headed towards a similar fate?
                  Hollinger explains:

                  ESPN's John Hollinger

Why Paul could end up like Roy
"If you're following the Hornets closely, what's happening with Roy has to have you a little freaked out. Pardon my Stephania Bell impersonation here, but Roy had the meniscus removed in his left knee two years ago, leaving it in a bone-on-bone situation, and after two years of that pounding he's now paying the piper. We don't know what his future holds, but we're guessing it's dramatically less productive than his immediate past. (Wait, it gets better: Roy also has no meniscus left in his right knee as a result of April's surgery. This whole routine may play itself out on the other leg two years from now.) Why am I bringing up Roy? Because Paul had a similar procedure done after his knee injury last spring. So Paul, like Roy, is meniscus-free in the knee, and I suspect that grinding action is going to have a similarly destructive effect someplace down the road. But for now it might have created an especially focused player. While all athletes face a rapidly ticking clock before their bodies give out on them, it seems to me that Paul's is ticking even faster than most, and I wonder if that created some of the urgency that led to all the drama this summer."
"In the morning he would read the Bible with another coach. Then, in the afternoon, he would go out and cheat kids who had probably saved up money from mowing lawns to buy those raffle tickets. That's Jim Tressel."
