    What about Allen Iverson?

    He wants to return

"I want to return to the NBA this season, and help any team that wants me, in any capacity that they feel that I can help. I'm disappointed, and I owe my fans more than what they have seen of me the last couple seasons. However, now that my family is healthy and rock solid, I can concentrate fully on doing what I do best! At the camp, I will help teach kids some of what it takes to be successful in life. On and off."

on his twitter. A.I finally off the bench? Interesting.

I hope he comes back. One of my all time favorite players... with Felton gone I can see him sign the vet's minimum with Charlotte.

Translation: I will finally put my ego aside, and accept coming off of the bench.

I hope A.I. jumps on with a contender, and gets a championship. I wouldn't call myself an A.I. fan, but I always have enjoyed watching this guy play. The league is better with him than without, I just hope he really can accept coming off the bench. Time will tell I guess.

I got to believe that the last two seasons have humbled A.I. a lot. I wish he could have stayed in Philadelphia and helped them remain a playoff contender.

But, since that's off the table now I believe he could definitely help a team like the Heat (with Wade and Bosh/Boozer), Bulls, Cavaliers, Thunder, Rockets or Lakers. He'd be the perfect 6th man bringing instant offense, I'm hopeful he'd use better shot selection, and could be "hidden" on defense.

I've always been a A.I. fan and want his career to end on a positive note. ****, if Ron Artest can get 25,000 chances to succeed then why can't Allen?

I would love AI or Tmac on the Lakers. I would also not mind seeing him in Charlotte or playing with Amare in New York. Hopefully someone will pick him up.

I hope he also comes back, he really is to good of a player to see his career ended how his last 2 seasons have been., T-Mac also needs to be picked up by a squad, these are great players that made the NBA exciting for a long time, would be nice to see them suited up at the start of the season next year.

I hope he comes back, remains true to the quotes in the OP, wins a ring, and rides off into the sunset feeling his NBA career is now complete.

What if he joins LA, and becomes the PG that they need...all jokes aside, what if he plays w/in the offense, and maintains a good/professional attitude?

I was thinking about this. I can't imagine Ron, Lamar, Kobe and Iverson in the same locker room on the one hand. Ivey is just a different brain type. On the other hand, I think that situation is best for him. On the Lakers, he could focus mostly on the defensive end and the transition game. Iverson's shot seems to be getting worse with time, so I don't know about his ability to spot up, but I do think that the championship habits on the Lakers would force him to step in line.

Playing Devil's Advocate, Iverson hasn't put in 20 mins of good basketball or been in shape in years. Injury and age are bedfellows, and Iverson is caught up with both of them right now. I think more than his scoring, his effort and heart are what he could contribute to a team. Get out there, run get some steals, hustle on D, get the crowd hyped. If he does those things, he has good enough instincts that his offense would come in the clutch, a la Artest in game 7.

He would also add some depth to the Lakers. I think Phil is just too dominant of a personality to let Iverson's madness take over. Would Kobe sign off on that?

Other than the Lakers...I don't know. Part of me is afraid that Iverson is just garbage now. He showed me nothing on the Sixers, and they really needed him to have a flashback. Does Ivey have the work ethic to get into the shape that he needs to be in to succeed in his mid/late 30s?

more than his heart and work ethic, the thing i question most about iverson is this: has he ever had any success in an offense where he didn't dominate the basketball? i don't think his skillset lends itself to a traditional offense, because he's not a shooter and he's small. he needs the ball in his hands to be effective offensively, and his skills don't mesh with the triangle.

                            Bucks need a backup PG.

What a great tutor he would be to Jennings.

Iverson is good in transition. He was a good defender at one point. Yeah, it was a lot of gambling, but he didn't get beat as much as people say. I think he has it in him to play good defense if he doesn't have to rely on his offense. One thing I think he could be really successful at is penetrating when the ball swings his way on the weak side. With Farmar and Artest, the ball gets to the weak side and they almost always take the three or take a step in and pass. With Iverson, he has the skills to penetrate deep enough to get someone else a layup or easy shot while his man is rotating to cover him. He'd have to dedicate himself to tighten up his 3pt shooting to keep the defense honest though.
