Re: Is DeMarcus Cousins the next Shaq?

I LFMAO when i saw this thread. Bro not even close, i think people are already starting to forget how of athletic of a freak shaq was. To be honest the only person who is more athletic than shaq is dwight howard. D.Cuz is more like hhmmm maybe chris webber or maybe a Pat Ewing , even charles barkely back in his prime is more athletic than D.cuz. But one thing about D.cuz his post game is way mature than dwight howard(who has been in the league for like 6 years and has Pat Ewing as a teacher). About the Pat Ewing comparison i think Pat ewing was more athletic than D.Cuz.

There might never be a center like Shaq. 7-1 with "hops" of a.....Get out of the way. I'm talking about the flat footed gather. And throw it down like you weren't there.

WOW! We've overused the 'next Jordan' label so much that now the next oversize big man with a little scoring and no defense is the next Shaq? Interesting.

Re: Is DeMarcus Cousins the next Shaq?

Those "young Shaq" highlight vids make me feel old. I remember watching both games where he ripped/pulled the basket down. The one in PHX took forever to get fixed (like a 45min - hour delay).

I find it a little premature to be questioning Cousins' work ethic. From his last game to UK he has improved a lot. I know it's only summer league but the comp is still better than the NCAA and that's all we have to judge him on in.

No big man alive had the athleticism that young Shaq had. The combo of power and quickness was lethal. I really thought he was going to break someone's arm one dunking.

Looking at the Ghost of Shaq makes it hard for the young to appreciate Prime Shaq. They just assume that this sad, broken, shell of man is what used to pass for Center Supreme.

Dang, DeMarcus Cousins will never be as athletic as young Shaq was....that video was very depressing. I remember seeing that Shaq as a lil kid and wanting to be like him. i hope if they ask D Cuz who he wants to be like and he says Shaq, that he gets laughed all the way out of the building, to his car, and the whole way home.

                        1b) @OKC 17 points, 5 reb., 2 ast., 2 st.
                        @LAC 20 points, 6 reb.

                        2) Athleticism. Cousins lacks the footwork, hands, explosiveness, IQ that Shaq does.

                        3) He has a questionable work ethic and attitude toward the game. Shaq actually did have the work ethic the majority of his prime.

I see Cousins with top 3 Center in the NBA potential, though. Amazing he fell so far. Wesley Johnson and Evan Turner will be half the player Cousins will be, imo.
Excellent points, Brankles. He has the potential to be dominant only if he has the determination to be so.

Man, I watched both of those games, too. I've seen the one where he takes the hydraulic system out of the backboard support around 100 times and it still amazes me every time. Overall, D12 may be as athletic as Shaq, but Shaq weighed 300 coming out of LSU, so pound for pound it's no contest. He was an absolute beast. I think he's listed between 300-330 right now, but I bet he weighs every bit of 380, maybe even 400. He's just so THICK.

Cousins may be the next Derrick Coleman but he'll never be Shaq.

Na not Derrick Coleman. DC had some nice perimeter skills no?

I would say closer to Zach Randolph but taller and without the developed jumper yet.

This is as bad as asking if Javale McGee is the next Shaq. One part of the equation doesn't equal Shaq. It's the freakish combination of the size (cousins) and athleticism (McGee) that made Shaq MDE.

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
