This from the same guy who said Mitch Richmond was a Hall of Famer. Where exactly did your "Hall of Famer" Mitch Richmond lead the Kings?? Hell they only made the playoffs once and that was with a losing record as the 8th seed. He never even carried them to a winning record. So how is he a HOF'er and star to you yet KG was an underachieving role player??
I'm not taking a shot at you or anything like that. Just trying to understand the logic behind this. You make some good points on things and players but there there are times where you make post like these and it makes you wonder sometimes.
For all the hype Garnett received in Minnesota you would expect a Title or two. The farthest he lead his team was to the WCF. Most people would consider that a severe dissapointment. Hakeem Olajuwon lead a cast of marginalia to an NBA Title. Why not expect the same from Garnett with even better teammates?
His contract was far too enormous for a guy who consistently came up short in clutch moments. His immature chest beating and barking was embarrassing for a guy who played like such a wimp in the endgame. What about his respect (or lackthereof) for his opponent? Is that the kind of guy you wanted to be taking up 60% of the payroll?
Richmond and Garnett were totally different players who had totally different jobs. And yes, I do believe that Richmond was a Hall of Famer and that Garnett is as well. They just satisfy different roles, nothing wrong with that.
Speaking of roles, every player on every team in NBA history had an assigned role. Garnett is best suited when he is focused on securing the backboards and traffic copping a defense.
