why do NBA players get into more trouble than other pro sports?
I know that this summer's been rough on the NBA with Kobe, but I was reading the thread about Kwame Brown getting arrested, and it made me wonder why the NBA players seem to get into more trouble then their NFL, MLB, or NHL counterparts. Maybe it's just the fact that with more NFL, MLB, and NHL players (there are a lot fewer players per NBA team than any other) they get more press, I dunnoNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Tags: None -

I really don't know man, I was asking myself this the same question the other day. It's prolly one of those things you can only understand if you were in their shoes.Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death. -

Re: why do NBA players get into more trouble than other pro sports?
1. NBA players are generally more popular.
2. The average player is probably younger.
3. They have the summer off.
4. Which means that there is more dumb ish for them to get caught up in."If y’all see me in the news, and I make the news for something that I ain’t got no business making it for, don’t bash me. Say it was a young guy living."

The only thing I can think of is most NHL and MLB players go through a minor league system, thus they learn about being a professional without as much pressure and in small markets than the basketball ones.Comment

Good point, I forgot about that. I know most NHL minor league systems have courses players have to take that deal with the pressure and instant fame/fortune that comes with being in the NHL. For the most part, I think NHL players are the most trained for the big leagues. Just look at all the NHL draft participants, most of them don't see any action in the league for a few seasons. They're groomed and developed before they step foot on the ice.
I can't see the NBA having a system like that.Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.Comment

Re: why do NBA players get into more trouble than other pro sports?
I don't want to stereotype anyone, nor appear to be racist or anything either (because I'm not), but part of it might be the background of ***some*** (not all) players. I was thinking about it, and I think that basketball (more than baseball, hockey, and football) is a sport that some kids with troubled childhoods growing up on the streets can embrace and use it to better themselves. Once they get to college and the NBA I guess it's just too much too fast. They haven't matured enough to handle the situations thrown at them. Again, this isn't all players by any means, but you don't hear of many NHL or MLB players coming from the hood.
This may explain some, but then there are the players coming from the suburbs and whatnot who still are stupid and break the law...Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
