Re: The Carmelo Anthony (NY or Bust?) Thread

Agree with Prof, Broussard isn't that great at scoops, but everyone gets something right sometimes. From what I witnessed, the most accurate guys are Marc Stein and Adrian Wojnarowski (despite his columns, he has some of the best sources)

Anyway, the only thing I'm annoyed about is that the Melo trade is holding up everything else. I love trades.

Relax bud, I am just busting your chops but if this is true

Then Nets would keep Favors and get Gallo and Mozgov...Nice front line no?

No it's not, that deal doesn't even make sense

Think about that "deal" Broussard tweeted and tell me if that makes any sense whatsoever LOL.

Broussard makes great sense, In the end it's really only trading away Galo and Mozgov and a pick. Chandler would not be signed at years end anyway .Due too the Knicks signing Melo after the season was over, and losing Felton makes sense because your getting Billups back and his 18 mil expiring contract that is coming off the books at years end, and that means more money for either Paul or Deron coming.

            Think about it.

So really fellows it makes sense in the end, as long as we don't have to give up Fields, I'm fine with the deal.

There is no way the Knicks will be able to sign Paul or Deron by the time they are free agents. Either there will be a hard cap or the cap will go down.

Not true, besides Amare, the Knicks will have money to spend to sign either one of them.

                This is funny though

Sources say NJ in talks w/Den to send 2 1st round picks to Den for Mozgov & either Gallinari, Chandler or Felton, if Melo traded to NYK 32 minutes ago via Echofon

Not quite accurate haha. By that time Melo and Amar'e will be making somewhere north of 40 million. The cap most likely won't be as high as it is now, also owners are gunning to make it harder to create 3 star teams.

I won't say it's impossible, but having Melo on the team with that extension makes it less likely.

Sounded like you were being defensive when you were attacking Pack about the Nets because he was shooting down the validity of the trade or the people reporting the trade.

Nah it's cool OSU I didn't take it as an attack.

I just disagree with the "sources" he's using IE Hahn and Broussard.

I never said that Broussard or Hahn had to be believed

I just report what is being reported. I think that is kind of the point of this thread.

Yea they might be wrong or might be right but I am just posting the info for people to see

Do you guys just not seem to realize that you're going to have to sign players to fill out the team as well?

Amar'e alone is going to make about 19.9 million dollars that year. Melo is going to be making around 19, 20 something mil that year as well. That's going to wind up being about 40 something mil dollars between two players, the salary cap this year is about 58 million or so and the NBA wants a lower cap. You could end up with a 50 - 52 million dollar cap and they're also talking about eliminating the MLE. With all the players that are supposed to come off the books that you guys are bragging about, you have to actually sign people to replace those players, if you've got 40+ mil tied up in Anthony and Amar'e, you really think CP3 or Deron are going to then take less than 11-12 million dollars to make things work? Getting all three may end up being possible depending on the CBA, but this talk like it's a near lock and ****ing up your team's future cause you may possibly be able to do this is ridiiculous.
