    Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

A reported offer from us is Favors, Murphy, Humphries, and 2 picks for Melo. WTF! Way too much.

I'm actually fine with Melo coming, even if Favors goes, but not with all that going to Denver as well.

Our 4 position would be horrible... I hate Harris now. Trade him.

The players in the deal are fine (actually a great deal for NJ IMO) but the two first round picks as well are brutal.

        Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

I hate having to give up Favors AND Murphy AND Hump(don't see why he would need to be included)because it then puts a hole right back at the PF Spot, that we've struggled to fill for almost 10 years now. Unless they know they can get a decent/solid replacement there if they move Devin(which they would have to do now if they get Melo).

Ehh, you and I both know this just shows how DESPARATE Prokhorov is to not only takeover NY when the team moves to Brooklyn but overtake the Knicks as well. This man is desparate to get Melo AND CP3 if need be because he knows and I, along with other Nets Fans know that if Melo goes to NY, that the Barclays Center will be just as empty as the IZOD was.

I still don't see this happening, I mean Melo said publicly he doesn't want to be a net.

Melo said that he never said he wants to be a Net. It's not the same thing.

Melo hasn't said a thing in this whole process, which is smart on his behalf since it keeps a few more $$$ in his bank account.

But yea, he never said he doesn't want to be a Net but I seriously doubt that the Nets would still be holding conversations with Denver if there wasn't a hint that he would sign an extension with us, otherwise we'd be wasting our time.

                Re: The Carmelo Anthony Saga

Yeah, Pack. The Nets could be in trouble if the Knicks get Melo and have a renaissance right when the Nets are moving to BK. Everyone was saying for the last few years that the Nets would move in and take over as NYC's favorite basketball team because the Knicks have been so bad. It may end up being the opposite in the end. You know ticket prices are going to skyrocket when they move and if they have nothing to sell to their fans (the Knicks have their history and MSG at least) while the Knicks are a Top 5 team in the East then they could be in trouble.

Back to the trade, Murphy and Humphries don't make much sense if Denver is still dumb enough to believe they can succeed in their "trade Melo but remain a playoff team" goal. Murphy and Humphries are expiring deals and no FA worth a damn is going to rushing to play in Denver if Melo ain't there.

So it basically boils down to Favors + 2 first rounders + cap space vs Gallo + AR + one 1st rounder + cap space. The Nugs have to be pretty high on Favors to make that deal.

One "rumor" I've heard is that the Nugs would also ask for T-Will in return but if that's the case, then I don't see any real movement being made by anybody until AT LEAST Dec. 15 since that when teams can then trade players they signed that offseason and that the Nets will try to move Outlaw instead, although I don't see why they would take him when they're trying to clear space but not take on additional contracts, which doesn't make sense to me in all this.

So the Nuggets basically want half the Nets roster plus picks?

Their front office is high as a kite. Everyone opposing GM in the league is calling their bluff and rightfully so.

Nuggets, Cavs, Knicks Working On Blockbuster Sending Melo To NY?

According to information available on Bleacher Report, the Nuggets, Cavaliers and Knicks could be making progress on a potential trade involving Carmelo Anthony and Anderson Varejao. The original source of the information appears to be an ESPN report.

No details are provided but if such a deal is reached, it is likely that Varejao, a big man whom Denver covets, would be sent to the Nuggets and Anthony to the Knicks, the team that is the superstar forward's strongly preferred landing spot.

The other pieces in the proposed trade are unknown but figure to include a combination of New York's top young talents -- Danilo Gallinari, Anthony Randolph and Wilson Chandler -- some or all of whom the Knicks may be willing to part with in a blockbuster deal that brings Anthony to New York.

The deal would likely also include the Knicks conveying at least one first-round draft pick, which could be their own and/or one acquired from a third team using one of New York's assets.
I'm willing to part with any of those players but to part with all three and give up picks? Man that is a steep.

Gotta do it. If the knicks keep Felton Douglas Az and some cash, we're fine. Melo with Amare and the ability to throw in role players gives us a shot if we have those pieces. Especially if we have curry's 11+m soaking up cap space.

Yeah I know we have to. Talking heads on the radio have been saying on that the Knicks' objectives have changed a bit and Douglas & Mozgov are the ones they want to hang on to because of their defensive abilities. Doubt any teams would be asking for them anyway.

So this deal would presumably send Chandler & AR to Cleveland which gives them cap relief, Melo to NY and Gallo, Varejao and a pick to Denver?

                          ??

We'd be a lock for the playoffs but we're still probably the 6th best team in the East.

Thing is, it's not about this year. If you get Anthony you are working within a four year window, optimistically. There are certain teams that are going to have some serious problems within that window that would give the Knicks a shot with some good management.

As an aside, I'm really starting to like Douglas. He's very young and I'm curious to see his ceiling.

EDIT: That'd be a real good look for your Suns, Maytch.

Yeah I know it's a long term move obviously, with getting CP3 as well as the ultimate goal. Amare, Moz & Melo would be the only three players under contract when CP3 becomes an FA, and probably Toney since we'll pick up his option.

No doubt that the move is the best for us long term, by a long shot.
