    Hakeem & Dwight Training Sessions

    Posted already? Couldn't find anything.

Good to see Hakeem is still in shape. Hopefully Dwight learns a thing or two.

Beautiful vid. That's ball right there. Clear to see why Hakeem is one of the all time greats.

Dwight is some kind of athlete, man. Remarkable jumper period, but just phenomenal for a big guy. Wow.

Moses Malone. Before Hakeem's junior season at the University of Houston he spent the summer working with Malone.

As far as Howard, the two things that will continue to separate Howard from Olajuwon even after this mini-bigman's camp:

            1. Mid Range jumpshot. Olajuwon during his time had the best mid range jumpshot for a big man. This kept the defense honest and not hang around the basket waiting for Olajuwon to pull off a post move. If you backed off of him, he's going to stick that 15 ft jumpshot right in your grill.

            2. Reading the defense. We'll see what happens this year BUT Howard for the last couple of years has had serious issues in reading the double teams that come at him. Olajuwon during his prime was one of the best passing big-men in the game. he was like a point guard at the center position. You send a double at him, he's going to find the open man. Hopefully, they are also looking at game film because this is probably the only way Howard is going to overcome this fault.

Hakeem teaching the kids. Beautiful work.

If Dwight can't get this down by the end of this season then there is probably no hope for this kid in being an offensive thread for any team he plays for in the future.

Here is to hoping he takes this seriously....this time.

You can't expect him to get all of this down in 1 off-season. He needs to get down the fundamentals and then just build off them. He has good footwork and his jumper looked much better granted no one was checking him.

                  Beat me to it.

I don't think he even trained with him for a full week did he? What needs to happen more than anything is Dwight needs to try to spend a full offseason with Dream (if possible) and continue to revisit whatever notes taken during this and any other visit throughout the course of the season and alott himself some time either before or after practice to further work on it.

He's been in the league for 6 years. So why is he just getting down the fundamentals?

                      Ask Dwight that, lol.

But in all seriousness how many big men have gotten this kind if package down pact. Dwight is one of the rare big men who has the same kind if quickness that Hakeem had.

I understand everyone plays different because everyone has a different skill set. BUT why is Howard still trying to find his game after 6 years? When Olajuwon came into the league, he was ready to go. David Robinson the same way. It took Shaq about 2 years but afterwords he was set in his post game. Ewing took about 3 years to find his. Tim Duncan came to the league polished.

So what's Howard's problem? What has he been doing for the last 6 years? It's weird that no one questions his love for the game BUT I remember people were ready to jump on Shaq when he first came in because he wanted to rap and do movies on the side. Which was ridiculous because Shaq worked very hard on his game, with of course the exception of his free throws. BUT every other aspect of Shaq's game evolved over the years. Better post scorer. Better defender. Better passer. Most of the things you want out of your big man. By year 7, Shaq was the league MVP. This is Howard's 7th year and I'd be surprised if he's the runner up, let alone the outright winner.

Howard's game did make a quantum after the 2007 season BUT it just seems like his game stayed right there. Back then, you would have figured that he would be the clear cut favorite for MVP by now. Don't get me wrong, he' still a great player BUT will he ever be the BEST player in the league?

                          Preach on brother!

@ KG - I didnt even say he should have this down at the start of the season. I said by the end of the season. By that time his "fundamentals" should have gotten together already. This kid has had P. Ewing by his side for how many years already?

One year he shoots over 60% from the line and the next year it's just barely gets over 50%.

I enjoy Dwight but enough his enough.

@ Dwight Howard - Get it together young man before you go the way of Darius Miles.

Those guys were much older than D12 and found their games technically around the same age. I'm not making excuses for the kid, he should be further along but at the same time I'm not knocking him for wanting to further his game in the mold of Hakeem. In my eyes it's a better fit than Ewing/Shaq.

Cmon Sega, he's a long ways from being a Darius Miles. He's still the most dominant defensive force and best rebounder in all of basketball.

Shaq was only a year older than Howard when he came into the league. Howard was 19, Shaq came into the league at 20. So Shaq wasn't that much older than Howard coming into the league.
