Why is everyone hating on Gil?

I still like gil, yeah he's a bonehead, but he's not that bad in my opinion. Last year was bad, real bad. This year? Its a fake injury in pre-sason. How many have called in sick to work?

I think Gil needs to work on PR, but He's not a terrible person, maybe needs to see ron's artest's psychologist for treatment, I'm gonna say due to his mom and his upbringing, he needs to face that in mirror.

As a person from what I've seen on tv anyway, Gil don't see that bad lol

Besides, The city doesn't care for gil as much as the media makes it sound. Gil never got redcarpet treatment when he signed with the wizards or when he donated to charity for each home game he scored.

I agree with you for the most part. Seems everyone is just piling on him. He did some stupid things, he paid for it, let's move on. I think Stern made things a lot worse for ordering him not to say anything about it. Now Gilbert is rebelling toward him, albeit in a immature way.

I would gladly take him on my lowly Bobcats.

Yeah, but he's not John Wall. He knows he's on his way out...and so does the wizards. He is not the face of the wizards.

I think his intentions were good, but its been blown out of proportion by epsn giants and everyone is dumping on Gil.

He's accountable for his actions, I get that, but his media coverage is like Kobe's Rape Case.. Seriously, this dude always have a large body of press around him at all times, even before the gun incident

I guess the only way to shut up people is produce on the court. Mike vick did something stupid after he got out of jail(although, exonerated) and was criticized until he stepped on a football field.

Size contract has little to do with face of a franchise.

The only action that crippled the wizards was really the guns..

The fake injury was disapointing, but..I can't say I never missed school or work and called in sick..If I did, I'd be lying. Its the equivalent. The only difference he makes millions.

People did not pay to see Gil play. Lets be real, They came to see john wall.

The only reason the wizards should trade him is if they can get alot of salary relief(which won't happen), he's getting punished on d by bigger guards, the team is absolutely horrible(again, won't happen), or if he averages less then 22 points(finally, it won't happen)

DC Media have been blowing his most recent issue out of proportion so bad it's not even funny.

But from recent reports on the Wiz this preseason and from what I've seen of him so far this preseason, he's actually looked pretty good. Taking "smarter shots", not just chucking up shots like it's 07 all over again, etc.

While I do think the media is blowing his "fake injury" out of proportion, I think that's not the best way he could have handled it.

I have two problems with it.
While it's somewhat commendable that he wanted to give up playing time for Nick Young, he didn't have to then go and say that he had faked his injury. That shows that he is selfish and wants the attention and adoration for being so "unselfish."

and, I don't understand why he didn't just go to the coach and mention something about playing Nick some ahead of him, rather than feeling the need to take it into his own hands.
