Owners Want To Drop Player Costs By About $750-$800 Million.
Stern said the league wants player costs to drop by $750-800 million. Deputy commissioner Adam Silver said the NBA currently spends about $2.1 billion annually in player salaries and benefits.
"We would like to get profitable, have a return on investment," Stern said. "There's a swing of somewhere in the neighborhood of $750 to $800 million that we would like to change. That's our story and we're sticking with it."#RespectTheCultureTags: None -

What they want and what they'll get are going to be 2 vastly different things. As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!" -

Couldn't they have went about this by not giving Joe Johnson $120 million, David Lee and Rudy Gay $80 million, Brendan Haywood $55 million, and Drew Gooden/Darko Milicic/Amir Johnson/Channing Frye a combined $116 million?Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. We will be looking at a lockout next year fellas because that is a lot of money the players union would be giving up. I expected the owners to want to lower the amount players made but not by 1/3. Wow!"This is for all of my peoples who understand and truly recognize. Some won't get it and for that i won't apologize"- Talib KweliComment

My thoughts exactly nobody is forcing these guys to pay players this type of money.Comment

The League saying this publicly, IMO, pretty much guarantees a lock out. They say they want to reduce player salary expenditures by one-third. I think the players will play hard ball for a little while and eventually cave, giving up somewhere between 20 and 25 percent of their intake. I don't know how much of that money is benefits, but I'd guess that most players would be willing to give up a lot in that area if it could limit the amount of salary reduction.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment
