Re: Fastest Guy (With The Ball) In The League
They both was amazing at UNC but Lawson was a blur and one man fastbreak at UNC as well. He was just playing in Hansbrough shadow a lot though. Lawson was the fastest guy I have ever seen in a UNC jersey. Some of the things he did was just unreal. I could see even then that he would be one of the fastest guys in the NBA.Yeah I hear you Pretty.
In college it was a different story.
It looks like he's put on weight though since turning pro. He's much more of a plodding athlete these days.
Maybe you can comment on this since you're a UNC head, but it's funny to me that Lawson in college to me, wasn't this one man fast break he is in the pros. It seems like Felton/Lawson went in opposite directions in terms of that aspect.
One of the reason why I say Larry Brown's slow ball might have alot to do with the perception of Felton though is cause you you read any scouting report on Felton now they still talk about his great speed and quickness. I mean he doesn't seem to be the same blur he was in college to me either but he has shown his moments. Larry Brown just slows the ball down so damn much and is so hard on his PG's that Felton might have toned himself down. This year will show if he still has it though. I would hate to think a 26 year old with no injury issues would just lose his speed and quickness. Regardless though I wouldn't have put him in the discussion. Rose,Wall, and Lawson are just on another level.Comment

I don't think CP3 is the fastest either, but I don't get how Felton gets on the OPs list and not CP3.
And I forgot all about Monta Ellis too.Comment

Re: Fastest Guy (With The Ball) In The League
I knew I would be leaving guys off, but that's why I left an "Other" option.
Raymond Felton is on there because coming into the league he was regarded as a top 3 speed guy in the league (UNC fan here, & I'm from SC, his homestate, so I've seen a lot of him..he's must faster than he showed with the Bobcats.)
LeBron is on here because...look, dude is super fast. One of the top 5 or 6 guys in the league. Maybe it's because of his longer legs than anyone on here, but he can fly.
I agree here. He's fast, but I feel like a lot of people may not have the opportunity to see Lawson as much as they see Wall. Lawson is every bit as fast as Wall, and even at his size, is close to as good a finisher as Wall.
His first 2 years, he didn't stand out as a fastbreak guy, but his junior year, he started to break all the time. That was really their primary offense most of the season. Lawson would try to break down the court for a lay up. If that didn't work, Ellington would trail and spot up for an outside shot, and Hansbrough and Green would trail, looking for a dunk.

Re: Fastest Guy (With The Ball) In The League
yeah, don't know how I didn't think to put him on the list.
but you know who is deceptively fast with the ball (on your team..assuming you're a Warriors fan, based on your picture.), is Stephen Curry. he never looks like he's flying down the court, but he's constantly passing people. I think he just looks so smooth, that it kind of hides his quickness.

Re: Fastest Guy (With The Ball) In The League
Felton was a really fast guard...until Lawson came to UNC and kicked it up to that next gear.
I think they play very similar, with both being solid transition PGs. Lawson just has that athletic advantage over Felton.

That was my exact thought when watching Lawson at UNC. His speed was just on another level.Comment

Re: Fastest Guy (With The Ball) In The League
ill break it down for everyone lol. Im from chicago and i love derrick rose thats my boy but wall is faster. If we are talking about quickness and the stop and start ability then d rose is head and shoulders above everyone. I will say one name and im not surprised no one mentioned him because most ppl never heard of him unless they watched wake forest but ish smith the rookie pg for the rockets is as fast as anyone. The kid is like a lightning bolt in the half court offense or the open floor. He would definately finish in the top 3 if there was ever a race for the fastest in the league.Comment

Re: Fastest Guy (With The Ball) In The League
I don't like threads like this because it's just a matter of opinion, you can't really quantify it.
There's a lot of ridiculously fast guys in the NBA, even guys like Telfair and Farmar are blurs. Ultimately it's a pointless discussion because yuo can't convince me a Deron or CP3 are any slower than a Wall, Rose, or Rondo. It's basically a wash.
I would take Deron or CP3 over Wall thoughComment
