      Re: Tracy McGrady

He was a heck of a player in Orlando. His job was to flat out make buckets and man could he get it done. Off balance jumpers, acrobatic and creative layups, dunks in heavy traffic, ect. McGrady was the main reason their drive and kick game worked.

He started off the season playing as a distributor, something Detroit needed. Did a good job.

Then a few weeks ago, his jumpshot came back.

Also in the past few weeks he started taking the ball to the rack again, has had success. And last night he dunked on Haywood of Dallas.

He isn't done. His leg isn't supposed to be 100% back into shape until January and he is still playing well while building up strength on it. Arnie Kander has helped him the way he helped McDyess.

He isn't as quick or athletic as he used to be. But T-Mac always was a smart player, something that he never really had to showcase when he was able to dunk over everybody. He has shown that by coming out and basically playing Point Guard and running the Pistons offense for the first month of the season. He was setting people up for good looks like Chauncey used to.

When he was on the floor agaisnt the Lakers a few nights ago and limped off the court? He was back playing 5 minutes later. Didn't miss a beat.

Take it from somebody who has watched him almost every minute this season, he isn't done. And he is showing people that.

Go check his highlights this year from NBA.com. He is doing everything you guys are saying he can't do anymore. His numbers dont say much because he is the 5th guard here in Detroit. But he is making the plays he used to make. He's doing a little bit of everything.

Here's the thing though..He cannot do it every night.

        His body just doesnt respond.

He'd make great plays one night for the knicks, and then have to be put on ice for the rest of the week.

IF Mcgrady has a viable NBA career left in him, he's going to have to completely reinvent his game, and become a Brent Barry type player.

Mcgrady will always be 6'8" with the ability to shoot and pass, but his days as a offensive finisher, are done.

I know Tmacs had limited minutes and limited shots so far this season, but from what highlights I've seen I think he is getting much better. I think if he has the drive, and he stays healthy that he can get back to a 15-20 a night scorer plus a handful of assists and rebounds.

13 points in a quarter against NY. I think if he is mentally right, and he is given the shots, he can be a good scorer again.

That's what the Pistons took note off when they signed him. Their trainer Arnie Kander said that one T-Mac was explosive but it wouldn't be there the other night. He said his job was to find out why this was happening, and fixing it. From the looks of it, he is doing his job. McGrady doesn't look like his bolted to the floor at all. Every night he has the same bounce to his step, and he's able to do the same things game in and game out.

McGrady doesn't have to reinvent himself because he's always been a complete player. The Pistons roster calls for him to be a facilitator more so than a scorer, and thats what he is doing. He's not reinventing himself, he just never had to show this side of him much when he was in Houston.

He's gotten a lot of minutes at Point Guard and the team runs well through him. He's been dunking the ball a lot. Anytime he tries to get to the basket, he finishes. His jumper has been good for a while now.

His game to game stats are inconsistent, but that isn't his fault. The Pistons are a mess, and nobody has a role. Their coach has completely lost the team. That's why McGrady plays 25 one night and plays great, and then he gets in the next for 5 minutes. Nobody on the team has a defined role, and because of that they don't have any rhythm.

I was actually at that game. I remember he played the last few minute of the 1st quarter, the whole 2nd quarter, and a good amount of the 3rd. Almost 20 consecutive minutes. He looked great. That game he showcased everything and the Pistons ran the offense through him, opposed to him running the offense. He hit his jumpers, dunked, got to the rim, set some people up.

Tracy had a lil bit of a flashback Saturday night against the Raptors.

                  Re: Tracy McGrady

Ahhh T-Mac!! Amazing game tonight. He hit 4 straight three's in the final 6 minutes to put the game away. Detroit was up 5, then him and Villanueva took over and they ended up winning by 24.

In the first half, he looked as quick as he has ever been. He blew by the Atlanta defender in the 1st, he could have gone up with it, but dumped it off to Ben for a layup. And in the 2nd quarter, he took Wilkins off the dribble and finished with a nice up and under layup. He looked real quick. And he was clutch as hell in the 4th.

Might have been his best game yet. He's supposed to be getting stronger every game also. is leg isn't expected to be 100% until January or February. Considering how he has looked so far, thats great to hear. Hope he keeps it up.

I like the way Tracy was going this off-season, took a contract with one of the leagues weaker teams for a year for the vet minimum, I thought it was a dumb signing because he has no chance of sneaking himself a ring before it's too late. But I guess he wanted to prove that he still has the talent to contribute, I hope next season he signs with a team like Boston, Miami maybe Chicago, because he certainly deserves to get a ring, or at least break the 1st round exit curse that he carries... I adore this player

I love me some T-Mac, but no, I do not see McGrady reaching that all-star level of play ever again.

He had 15 tonight in the 4th Quarter. It got the Pistons back in the game and forced OT. He was clutch as usual. He hit all types of shots down the stretch.

Rip started coming off the bench 2 games ago. So him and T-Mac have been playing together, and they really feed off each other well. They both had good games tonight, and agaisnt Toronto on Thursday.

He doesnt "deserve" a ring. No one deserves a ring. U have to earn it. T-Mac didnt have enough years as a dominant player to place him in discussion w/ Hall Of Famers that missed out on the opportunity.

I wouldnt be mad if he hopped aboard a contender though. And actually contributed like Payton did w/ Miami in a limited role.

Yeah I'd like to see him in Boston.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
