Re: The Dwight Howard Thread
It's going to be a rough next few months with Knick fans coming up with hypothetical trades for Duhwight and all of them thinking there's a 99% chance Orlando will accept."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: The Dwight Howard Thread
That's a pretty good article from an insider's perspective. I feel like I'm missing something though. I personally still think he's headed to Brooklyn (if he and Williams talk behind the scenes, super friends style) but I thought the last legit news out there was D12 wanting to stay in Orlando, yada yada. That just means he can only be had in a trade but seems interesting with that article coming out less than 2 weeks ago.
I'm guessing the part you're talking about is his lack of development. The guy said it much better than I could have.
I didn't include the crunch time part about his FT shooting bc I think his mentality needs to be focused enough to fix everything. The FTs in crunch time was a Shaq problem. Dwight's got a long way to go in the other areas before he's rubbing elbows with Shaq (and Shaq's got a handful of rings even with those bad FT%s). It does seem a little silly complaining about a player as productive as Howard. But when you see his team come close but no rings, and it's clear he's not maximizing his potential and then pointing the finger at everyone else around him, I think it's warranted. And I think maybe Dwight has bought into it. The truth is, there's been about half as much progress as there should have been. He's bought into the idea that improving his offense is something extra he can do if he has time, going beyond the call of duty — something he can work around his extracurricular activities. The amount of his improvement (call me ungrateful, Nets fans, but you're going to be saying the same thing in five years) has been, to me, about exactly as little as could be possible for someone who plays basketball most every day. Athleticism is one thing, but leadership and skill are two others. It's the fact that Dwight has indeed shown flashes of these other dimensions for which we wait and wait that has made the wait so frustrating. He faces up and hits a jumper every now and then. He pulls a spin move to good effect occasionally, but it usually ends with him getting fouled, and we know where that leads.Comment

And the Dwightmare story continues.
Breaking News just on Sportscenter. Stan Van Gundy and Otis Smith are no longer with the Magic. Orlando deserves everything that's about to happen to them for being idiots.Comment

Going all in on Dwight... Kind of dumbfounded by this but it was expected. Wonder what happens next.

Re: The Dwight Howard Thread
Yeah, because a GM that constantly makes terrible trades, puts his team in cap hell, and manages an organization full of leaks deserves to keep his job. As far as Van Gundy, it wasn't working anymore. A star player is about 10x more valuable than a coach.Comment

Re: The Dwight Howard Thread
My man spare me the sarcasm. I didn't say it's a bad idea to get rid of Smith cause he definitely has made some mistakes that should cost him his job. As for Stan, give me a break with that tired it wasn't working garbage. Vinny, Mike Brown and Spo are three walking examples of how little a superstar or two or three mean if your coach ain't worth a damn. Stan is a good coach and this year he proved it even more by the fact that not only did that team make the playoffs with the garbage Dwight put them through, but they did it as the sixth seed after holding down a top four spot in the conference for the majority of the year. The problem isn't even the fact that they are getting rid of them, but WHY they are getting rid of them. For some clown who has NO intention of being with this team long term.Comment

Re: The Dwight Howard Thread
The only thing left now is for Dwight Howard to leave Orlando.
On a side note, If I'm the Clippers I'd look at SVG real hard right now."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: The Dwight Howard Thread
Sound strategy that is to clean house in the FO because your star player wanted them gone even though he's not going to be there much longer either.

All I can say is good luck to the GM that has to handle the mess Otis has left behind and the mess that Dwight has created.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.
