and I agree on Fisher, and I think Tayshaun Prince wouldn't be bad.

I also think Nash would be pretty good, i'd also like to say CP3 but I don't think he has the personality to be a head coach

I'm surprised more people haven't said Kobe.. He knows the game, high basketball IQ, is solid on both sides of the ball, and is a great leader.

Yea, Kobe with his ego would make a horrible coach. At least at this point in his life. Maybe if he retires and calms down a bit, than he would be a good coach. But now, he would drive his players insane. He wouldn't be able to just sit on the bench and let them play; he would have to be out there.

I'm surprised at a lot of these answers. It seems people believe talent on the court translates to success as a coach. I hold the mantra that the best players in any sport would ultimately make for poor coaches. The game comes so easily and naturally for these players, that it is frustrating for them when they can't translate their own ability to do something into the ability for another to do so.

Personally, I think the best potential coaching prospect would be either Andre Miller or maybe Mike Bibby.

The worst would be Dikembo Mutumbo, I have the weird feeling he'd have trouble communicating his game plan.

Usually it's true that the less talented guys are usually great coaches, but it's not like people are saying Lebron,Melo,etc.

Kobe would actually prolly make a good coach, he has tremendous knowledge of the game and i'd think that if he actually was to be a coach he'd tone it down some by then.

Guys that are stars are almost always going to not succeed as coaches. The only 2 that come to mind that were stars and the tops in the game were Bill Russell and Larry Bird that come to my mind at the moment. Both of those guys had talented teams when they took over so hard telling if they could have taken a poor team and made them successfull.
The most successfull coaches that were past players were just average players that had a good understanding of the game.
Guys that come to mind right away that play today would be Steve Blake, Derrick Fisher Kirk Hinrich and possibly Jeff Foster. I do believe Tim Duncan Derron Williams and Chris Paul could be excellent coaches when there playing days are done.

Tim Duncan would be a pretty solid coach. High Basketball I.Q, Knows his Fundamentals, Long career, Multiple Championships.
