Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
Saw this coming. Knew that MJ didn't have the heart to fire him. Best of luck to one of the greatest to ever do it.
LOL at Marino's gif.
Here is the press release...
Who is available to replace him? My guess is that Phil Ford will be the interim coach till they find a long term solution. I bet the players are going to pop some bubbly tonight.
EDIT: One thing is for certain. This will put to be forever the notion that Jordan is overly partial to UNC guys. Not only did he get rid of Brown, but Phil Ford and Dave Hanners as well. Not to mention Felton in the offseason. Ugh.Last edited by LingeringRegime; 12-24-2010, 04:47 AM.Comment

Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
My favorite coach. Dude rebuilt the Pacers that started their Playoff streak.
Its unfortunate that he cant stay in one place or join a franchise like Jerry Sloan that continues to find the type of players that fit into his culture.
He cant "teach" those knuckleheads in Charlotte.
I'd take him back in Indiana, but he kinda likes to deal w/ players that are on the cusp of becoming better players. I dont know if the current roster is there or will he fusk w/ Larry Bird's tinkering.
That Clipper Team he reshaped was pretty damn good.Comment

Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
Yeah I saw this coming after his comments after the Wizards blew them out the other night, then get blown out again last night by the Thunder. I don't think he'll be the only one leaving the Bobcats..Think Jackson and Wallace are going to be on their way out also come deadlineWashington Redskins
Washington Wizards
St.Louis Cardinals
Uconn Huskies
Miami HurricanesComment

Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
So this is the stepping stone to rebuilding, next Stephen Jackson. I want MJ and CHA to do well but he's gotta make very intelligent moves. Also maybe change the pinstripes on their home jerserys, not a fan, but that don't matter.Lakers | Michigan | DodgersComment

Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
He was fired basically...this is MJ's way of doing it politely as they are friends.
It's interesting, after Chandler and Felton were let go...Brown was very upset.
Conversely, MJ thought they were the right moves and said this is now a playoff team easily.
Jordan was a great, great player...but he's got no idea about player personel, management, drafting etc. In fact, he's one of the worst of all time. If he wasn't MJ he'd of been driven out of the league years ago.
Kwayme Brown at number 1...Adam Morrison at 3....Comment

Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
I feel the same way. He paved the way for the Pacers to be successfull all those years. The Bobcats over achieved last year and then losing Felton to the Knicks just set this season up for disaster. I guess 1 good thing for the Bobcat fans is that they should get a good pick in the draft, but with Jordan's prior drafting experiences that probably don't mean a whole lot, lol. My favorite coach. Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
Oh, easily. His love for UNC players is ridiculous although Ray Felton is a good player....if MJ would sign a GM and just fund the salary then it'd be good but he continually wants to control things. His fuel to be the best is not helping him in people management and building teams.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
The owner...but most personnel decisions go through him or are carried out to his wishes (the Chandler trade).
Really like this move for the Bobcats. I still think the playoffs are a long shot, but I think Silas has the ability to make the team competitive without alienating so many of his players. With the team struggling and frustration mounting, Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown resigned Wednesday after meeting with team owner Michael Jordan.
Former Charlotte Hornets coach Paul Silas was named interim head coach hours later.
In 10 seasons as an NBA head coach, Silas compiled a 355-400 record. He did stints with the Clippers, Hornets and Cavaliers (2003-05). Silas also was an assistant coach for 11 seasons, with the Hornets, Knicks, Nets and Suns.

I just find it amazing that when LB leaves people immediately start going to Kwame and all of this silly stuff man
Of course decisions go through him, its the same for every team. Owners pay the bills....
You see exactly what I mean. anyway any team LB joins his clocks starts to tick before the ink dries.Comment

Re: Larry Brown is stepping down
It's not just Kwame...Adam Morrison at 3 was an even worse pick. Everyone said he didn't have the althleticism to make it in the NBA but MJ said "he's got fire and wants to win"......
Pretty much everything MJ has touched as a GM / Owner has been a complete screw up.
Let's be realistict, if it wasn't MJ.................we'd all be laughing the guy out of town with most of his decisions.
Do I want MJ to succeed as an owner and always be a part of the NBA? Hell yeah. I hope he starts getting it right.
Great player doesn't = great man in charge though.Comment
