Unreal. So glad you posted this, because I never knew it happened. Been watching Sportscenter most of the morning, and all they talk about is Coach K and worthless College Football.

OS Pro Basketball Forum is the next best thing to NBA League Pass.

        Re: 12/27-1/2 Game Discussion Thread

Okafor is getting paid difference maker money and he isn't making much of an impact. As far as Thornton goes he hasn't been getting consistent mins until lately. Belinelli is a shooter that's not making shots. Once again they aren't making Emeka type money. He isn't a real center his skill set isn't good enough for his height. He is Joel Anthony making Dwight Howard money.

When the opposing team are able to put their centers on D.West and their PF's on Emeka something is wrong. Okafor doesn't have neither the skill set or height to be a dominant player in the NBA. If he was producing at his pay rate the fact that Marco and Marcus struggle @times wouldn't hurt us so much. He's making 20&10 money and giving us 11&7 production. Dude is the problem he's not even a top ten big man in the west alone.

So you would rather have a player not as good as Oak as your center as long as he isn't being paid that much?

I really don't follow you. Your team would be a lot worse off with Darko or mostly any other player you can put there. Money shouldn't matter as you're trying to win now with CP3. The future doesn't matter right now.

I'll take a wing scorer over another Center, Okafor will do what he does solid 10 and 10 with 1 or 2 blocks a game with an occasional 20&10 game and doesn't get hurt.

Thornton will hit his shots off the bench when he's not slumping, but other then that who is gonna score for the Hornets besides CP3 and D West which is really just West because CP3 this year generally relys on others to make shots unless he decides to be aggressive

Ok so lets just assume your right and say Milicic or Jordan isn't as good as Emeka which I dont agree. Darko contract is a third and DeAndre's is a tenth of Emeka's. The more money we have off the books the better we can get everywhere else.

Hey if you think a free agent wing will sign with NO's then I see your point. I don't know what would happen, but Oak is a big part of what you guys do.

Once again just stats. Darko can't stay on the floor to save his life. In the playoffs do you really want to have to depend on a guy like that to stay out of foul trouble and/or to be able to play heavy minutes?

Okafor would be fine if he weren't so soft. He misses out on so many points because he goes up for power layups instead of throwing it down and gets fouled...so he misses. He's quite athletic, but you wouldn't know it because he plays not to get hurt. Which is understandable, but is still infuriating.

And yeah, he is grossly overpaid.

For all the **** D'Antoni got about not coaching defense, ALL of his teams were better than any one of Gentry’s teams have been over his time as head coach. Every single one. Our supposedly “improved” defense last season was still pretty bad compared to the D'Antoni teams. Our “Seven Seconds or Shaq” offense was arguably the best EVER for that stretch when Gentry took over from Porter, but it was a really, really terrible defensive team.

I like Gentry as a coach, but our defense has been miserable ever since Mike left, which is stunning to think about. A team with this many talented defensive players(Chilly, Peaches, Hill, Dudley, Frye, Gortat, Lopez, Goran) should not be the 6th worst defensive team of all time. Gentry really has issues, and limitations. And they're starting to show. Not just defensively either. He's got major issues with player rotations. I know we have a ton of players now (almost too MANY) but even last year in Game 6 against the Lakers, his inability to recognize when to pull and put back certain players was a huge nail in the coffin.

Our best defensive team was the 05/06 squad. Up until January of that season, right before Kurt Thomas got injured, we were ranked FIFTH in defense, and it makes sense, seeing as how we had some strong defensive players: Kurt Thomas, James Jones was decent and lanky, Marion should have been considered for DPOY, Raja was awesome, Diaw was very good, etc. I understand the personnel we have right now do not matchup defensively to their 05/06 counterparts, but 6th worst defensive team of all time? That's just ridiciulous.

I’m glad Gortat called the guys out, because this **** is unacceptable.

Brandon Roy will be sidelined indefinitely with sore knees

Portland guard Brandon Roy will be sidelined indefinitely with sore knees, it was announced today by General Manager Rich Cho.

“Unfortunately, Brandon Roy’s condition has not significantly improved and we’ve decided to hold him out indefinitely,” said Cho. “In the short term, we’re going to proceed with an extended period of rest. Beyond that, we’re looking at all available treatment options to help better determine a course of action.”

Roy, 26, has missed nine games this season (three games from Nov. 16-20 and the last six games beginning on Dec. 17) with a sore left knee.

He's looking kind of done really.
